Indian Stock Market Opens Higher as Sensex Gains 155 Points and Nifty Holds Above 24,550

Indian equity markets opened higher on Monday, August 10, 2026, with the Sensex rising 155.51 points and the Nifty 50 gaining 42.10 points. Auto, FMCG, realty and pharma stocks supported the early gains, while Power Grid, IndiGo and NTPC declined.

Indian equity markets began Monday’s trading session on August 10, 2026, with modest gains and limited movement. Buying in auto, FMCG, realty and pharma stocks provided early support, with both benchmark indices opening in positive territory.

At the start of trading, the BSE Sensex was up more than 100 points, while the NSE Nifty 50 remained above the 24,550 level. However, gains across the broader market remained limited, while selling in some key heavyweight stocks kept pressure on the benchmark indices.

The BSE Sensex rose 155.51 points, or 0.20 per cent, to 78,654.68 in early trade. The NSE Nifty 50 gained 42.10 points, or 0.17 per cent, to trade at 24,612.75.

Market breadth was positive in early trading, with about 1,689 stocks advancing and 1,337 declining. Around 193 stocks remained largely unchanged.

Among major Sensex constituents, Titan Company gained about 1.32 per cent to ₹5,008.45. ICICI Bank rose about 0.91 per cent to ₹1,435, while Mahindra & Mahindra gained about 0.80 per cent to around ₹3,529.40.

Axis Bank and Tata Steel also traded in positive territory, rising about 0.57 per cent and 0.56 per cent, respectively. In the IT sector, HCL Technologies gained about 0.50 per cent and Infosys rose about 0.41 per cent. Trent, Hindustan Unilever and Tech Mahindra also recorded positive movements in early trade.

Power Grid Corporation declined about 0.77 per cent to around ₹269.65. IndiGo fell about 0.71 per cent, while NTPC declined 0.67 per cent.

SBI traded about 0.62 per cent lower and Bharti Airtel declined about 0.60 per cent. Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Reliance Industries and Adani Ports also remained under mild pressure during early trading.
