Indian equity benchmarks opened higher on Thursday amid positive global cues and expectations of renewed talks between the United States and Iran, which supported investor sentiment across markets.
In early trade, the BSE Sensex rose 536.50 points, or 0.69%, to 78,647.74, while the Nifty 50 advanced 153.30 points, or 0.63%, to 24,384.60. The gains followed a b close in the previous session, when the Sensex ended higher by 1,263 points and the Nifty rose 1.63%.
Twenty-five of the 30 Sensex constituents opened in positive territory, indicating broad-based buying. Gains were led by Infosys, TCS, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Larsen & Toubro. Strength was also observed in aviation and industrial stocks. According to the report, the stock named “Eternal” recorded the highest gains, drawing investor attention.
On the downside, select heavyweights including Reliance Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Titan Company, UltraTech Cement and Kotak Mahindra Bank registered marginal declines.

Global market signals remained supportive, with US indices S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite recently reaching record highs, reinforcing investor confidence. Asian markets also traded higher, with the Nikkei 225 nearing its all-time high.
India VIX, the volatility index, declined about 9.5% to 16.83, indicating reduced market volatility and improved investor confidence. Broader markets also saw buying interest, with the Nifty Midcap index rising 0.97% and the Smallcap index gaining 1.13%. Among sectors, realty, metal and media stocks recorded the highest gains, while the oil and gas sector remained relatively subdued.
In the commodities market, global crude oil prices edged lower. Brent crude declined approximately 0.12% to $94.82 per barrel, while WTI crude fell 0.13% to $91.17 per barrel. In currency markets, the Indian rupee opened marginally ber at 93.27 against the US dollar compared with the previous session.
