Indore Woman and Lover Plot Honeymoon Murder of Husband in Shillong

Sonam of Indore, along with her lover Raj Kushwaha, plotted the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi. They took him to Shillong under the guise of a honeymoon and murdered him.

Sonam Raghuvanshi and lover Raj Kushwaha: The Raja Raghuvanshi murder case in Indore has sent shockwaves across the nation. The accused is none other than Raja's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, who, along with her lover Raj Kushwaha, plotted and executed her husband's murder in Meghalaya, under the pretext of a honeymoon. This is a love story that tragically spiraled into a deadly conspiracy.

Who is Raj Kushwaha?

Raj Kushwaha is a resident of Indore and is reportedly about five years younger than Sonam. He is employed as a general worker, and worked at Sonam's family's plywood shop. Their relationship began during his employment at the shop, evolving from friendship to romance.

The Affair Continued After Marriage

Sonam maintained contact with Raj Kushwaha even after her engagement and marriage to Raja Raghuvanshi. Their wedding took place on May 11, 2025, in Indore, following Hindu customs. However, Sonam continued her relationship with her lover even after marriage. They remained in constant contact, gradually formulating a plan to eliminate Raja.

How the Murder Plot Was Forged

To get rid of Raja, Sonam and Raj devised a plan. Sonam would take Raja to Meghalaya for their honeymoon, where Raj and three of his accomplices would be waiting. They would murder Raja and dispose of the body to eliminate any evidence.

Honeymoon Turned Deadly

On May 20, Sonam and Raja left for Shillong for their honeymoon. On May 22, they checked into Shipara Homestay in Nongriat village. They checked out on the morning of May 23, but both their mobile phones were switched off afterward.

On May 24, an abandoned scooter was found in the parking lot of Oser Hills, followed by the discovery of their belongings in the jungle. On June 2, Raja's body was recovered from a deep ravine near Weisaidong waterfall. He was identified by a tattoo on his hand.

Sonam Was Accompanied by Raj and Three of His Friends

The investigation revealed that Sonam and Raja were not alone in Shillong. Raj Kushwaha and three of his friends were also present. A guide confirmed that Sonam was accompanied by four other individuals. They collectively and premeditatedly pushed Raja into the ravine, causing his death.

Sonam Surrendered in Ghazipur

After Raja's murder, Sonam went into hiding. However, on June 9, she unexpectedly appeared at a roadside eatery in Ghazipur, borrowed the owner's phone, and video-called her brother, informing him of her location. The police subsequently apprehended her, and the investigation commenced.

Police Statement

A joint investigation by the Meghalaya and Indore police has confirmed that Sonam, in conjunction with her lover, plotted Raja's murder. A total of four individuals were involved; three have been arrested in Indore, and one remains at large in Uttar Pradesh.

Raj Kushwaha's Record

To date, Raj Kushwaha has no known criminal record. His association with Sonam began at her family's shop. However, their relationship tragically escalated to the point of murdering an innocent husband.
