Jaisalmer AC Bus Fire Kills 20, CM Visits Injured; PM & President Express Condolences

20 people have died in a massive fire that broke out in an AC bus in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited the injured at a Jodhpur hospital and assured them of better treatment and all possible assistance.

Jaisalmer: On Tuesday, an AC bus accident occurred in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, resulting in the death of 20 people. The accident took place near Thaiyat village on the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur Highway. The bus usually departs from Jaisalmer at 3 AM daily, but this time, it had only traveled about 20 kilometers when it suddenly became engulfed in flames. Many of the approximately 50 people on board the bus were seriously injured in the incident.

With the help of local villagers, many people were rescued, but those trapped in the flames could not be saved. Initial investigations suggest a short circuit as the cause of the fire.

Short Circuit Identified as Cause of Bus Accident in Investigation

Preliminary investigations by the police and fire department indicate a short circuit as the cause of the fire. Officials stated that the bus's AC system had not been properly serviced for a long time, making a wiring fault possible.

However, the investigation team has also begun questioning the bus operator and driver. At the time of the accident, the driver attempted to stop the bus and evacuate passengers, but the fire spread so rapidly that rescue efforts were impossible.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma Visits Hospital

Late at night, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma arrived at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Jodhpur, where the injured are receiving treatment. He obtained a detailed report from the doctors and instructed them to ensure improved medical arrangements.

The CM wrote on social media, “I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured. The government stands with every affected family and will provide them with all possible assistance.”

PM and President Express Deep Condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu expressed deep sorrow over the accident. The PM announced financial assistance of two lakh rupees each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to the next of kin of the deceased.

This tragic incident has shaken the entire nation. The impact of the accident was also visible on social media, where people expressed their condolences to the affected families and questioned the negligence of bus companies.
