Jan Suraaj Party Faces Mass Resignation in Muzaffarpur Over Ticket Distribution Dispute

Dissatisfaction has emerged in Muzaffarpur's Gaighat over the Jan Suraaj Party's ticket distribution. Workers, led by Vakil Sahni, protested and collectively resigned from the party. Family benefit cards and documents were burnt in anger.

Bihar: Dissatisfaction over ticket distribution in the Jan Suraaj Party has come to the fore in Muzaffarpur's Gaighat block area. On Wednesday, in Jarang Baluahan village, workers, led by prospective party candidate Vakil Sahni, staged a b protest against the party. During this, angry leaders and workers expressed their displeasure by setting fire to hundreds of family benefit cards and other party-related documents.

Collective Resignation

Angered by not receiving a ticket, Vakil Sahni called a meeting at his residence and announced a collective resignation from the party's primary membership. Sahni alleged that party chief Prashant Kishor is engaged in deteriorating Bihar rather than improving it. He stated that the party had assured more than two thousand people of tickets for Bihar's 243 assembly seats and collected a membership fee of Rs 21,000 from interested candidates, but during the process, tickets were given to leaders from other parties instead.

Sahni quipped, “He is not Prashant Kishor (meaning 'peaceful' or 'calm' youth), but Pareshan Kishor (meaning 'troubled' or 'worried' youth). It is not Jan Suraaj (People's Self-Governance), but Dhan Suraaj (Wealth's Self-Governance).” He explained that a list of seven potential candidates was initially released for the Gaighat assembly constituency, but at the last moment, the party betrayed everyone by giving the ticket to a leader from another party.

Allegation of Pressure on Workers

Sahni also alleged that party workers were being pressured to campaign and perform organizational tasks forcibly. This led to widespread discontent among the workers, who then collectively resigned from the party to express their displeasure.

Dozens of workers, including former candidates Sitaram Sah, Surendra Kumar Sholay, and Babloo Yadav, were present at the protest. All accused the Jan Suraaj leadership of fraud and favoritism.
