Jharkhand CID Busts Multi-Crore Fake Trading App Scam, Two Arrested in Nagpur

Jharkhand CID uncovers scam involving crores of rupees through a fake trading app. Two accused arrested from Nagpur, investigation into cybercriminals and other apps continues.

Ranchi: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Jharkhand Police has busted a cybercriminal gang that defrauded people of crores of rupees through a fake trading app. In this operation, two accused, Jayant Tarachand and Ajay Rambharose, were arrested from Nagpur, Maharashtra. Police stated that the gang used to dupe people by luring them with fake investment apps and companies, thereby seizing their hard-earned money.

Jharkhand Police Conducts Cyber Raid in Nagpur

According to the CID, this case came to light based on a complaint lodged at the Cyber Crime Police Station on August 4. The complainant reported that they were shown an advertisement for a fake company named "NJ Financial Research" through Facebook, WhatsApp, and Google search. The advertisement enticed them to invest by promising high returns in a short period.

The CID revealed that this gang used various digital platforms to instigate people to invest. After facilitating investments through the fake trading app HNAC, the accused would transfer the deposited funds into different bank accounts.

Scam of Crores Through Fake App

During the investigation, it was discovered that the complainant had invested Rs 23 lakh after being deceived. The accused transferred the amount into various bank accounts. The investigation also revealed that several other individuals had fallen victim to this fraudulent app. Police have collected digital evidence by tracking these bank accounts.

The CID stated that the accused ran false advertisements on platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Google to attract investors. Through these, people were falsely promised profits of 5 to 10 times in a short period.

Both Accused Arrested

Both accused were apprehended from Nagpur and brought to Jharkhand. Currently, the police are interrogating them and are in the process of identifying other potential victims. The investigation is also trying to determine if the gang has defrauded people through other fake trading apps and companies.

The CID has warned the public not to trust advertisements appearing on social media or messaging apps for any investment. Digital and cybercrimes are being curbed, and the Jharkhand Police are taking swift action in such cases.
