Indian wrestler Kajal Dhochak has clinched the gold medal at the Under-20 World Championships with a remarkable performance. She defeated China's Liu Yuqi 8-6 in the final of the women's 72 kg category, bringing glory to India.

In the final match, she defeated China's Liu Yuqi 8-6. China's athlete could not withstand Kajal's strength and technique and had to concede defeat. Additionally, Shruti (50 kg) and Sarika (53 kg) won bronze medals for India, adding to the team's pride.

Spectacular Victory in the Semifinal

Kajal Dhochak started the tournament with a resounding victory. She first defeated Emily Mikhailova of Bulgaria and then Kairkul Sharshebayeva of Kyrgyzstan. After this, in the semifinal, she defeated Jasmine Robinson, a b player from America, 13-6, and with this victory, she secured a ticket to the final. Jasmine Robinson is well-known in international wrestling, but Kajal defeated her with her b defense and aggressive play.

Defeat to China in the Final

In the final match, Kajal took the lead from the beginning and at one point had a 4-0 lead. Although Liu Yuqi tried to make a comeback and put up a fight in the match, Kajal remained composed and adopted an aggressive strategy to win the final 8-6. Kajal's victory not only secured a medal for India but also brought her prestige on the international wrestling stage.

Kajal's family lives in Sonipat, Haryana. Her father and uncle have also been wrestlers. Kajal trained at the Kuldeep Malik Wrestling Academy. She started learning wrestling moves from a young age. Kajal had already proven her ability by winning the Under-17 Asian title (73 kg category) and the Under-17 World title (69 kg category) in 2024. Following this, in the Under-17 World Championships held in Kyrgyzstan in 2023, she also won in the 73 kg category.

Kajal's victory has ushered in a new era in women's wrestling in India. In addition to her, Shruti (50 kg) and Sarika (53 kg) also won bronze medals in this World Championship.
