Kanpur witnessed a security alert after a train loco pilot reported a suspected stone-pelting threat to the control room upon noticing suspicious activity near the railway track. Following the alert, teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) were dispatched to the location for verification.
According to information received, the loco pilot observed several individuals near the track while the train was passing. As their activities appeared suspicious, he informed the control room as a precautionary measure. The railway administration treated the matter seriously and immediately sent GRP and RPF personnel to the site.
Police and railway officials questioned the individuals present at the location. Their identities were subsequently verified through a video call with senior officials. The investigation confirmed that the individuals were railway employees engaged in track repair and maintenance work and were present there for assigned duties.
Railway officials stated that the loco pilot acted in accordance with safety protocols and fulfilled his responsibility by reporting the activity. After the track workers were identified, the situation returned to normal, and no stone-pelting incident or security threat was confirmed.
The railway administration said that the safety of passengers and train operations remains its highest priority. As a result, immediate action is taken whenever any suspicious activity is reported. Officials also appreciated the alertness of the loco pilot, stating that such vigilance can help prevent potential incidents in time.
The area remained under observation for a short period following the incident. After the identities of the track workers were confirmed, the GRP and RPF teams withdrew from the site. The railway administration said that security protocols would continue to be strictly followed and all alerts would be thoroughly investigated.
