Madhya Pradesh: Four devotees died in two separate incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday during the 11-kilometer Kanwar Yatra organized at Kubereshwar Dham in Sehore. On Tuesday, two women died in a stampede during Rudraksha distribution, while on Wednesday, two more devotees breathed their last amidst the heavy crowd. Devotees have raised serious questions about the security arrangements of the administration. The local administration has initiated an investigation into the matter and assured improvements in security arrangements.

Stampede Amidst Crowd and Death of Devotees

During the Kanwar Yatra held at Kubereshwar Dham in Sehore district on Tuesday, a stampede occurred during Rudraksha distribution, resulting in the death of two women and several injuries. Following this, the Yatra commenced on Wednesday from the Sivan River to Kubereshwar Dham with approximately five lakh devotees. News of the death of two more devotees surfaced amidst the heavy crowd, one from Haryana and the other from Gujarat. These accidents have raised serious questions about the quality of security arrangements at the event.

Administration's Preparation and Devotees' Discontent

The administration had arranged for additional police force, medical teams, sanitation, and traffic diversions to successfully conduct this 11-kilometer Yatra. Despite this, the administration failed to control the heavy crowd. Devotees have questioned the negligence of the police and administration and alleged that this unfortunate incident occurred due to the lack of better crowd management. Serious questions are also being raised about the role of the local administration and the organizing committee.

Demand for Investigation and Action

An investigation has now been initiated into the deaths that occurred during this religious event organized by Pandit Pradeep Mishra. Devotees and local people have demanded strict action against the culprits. The administration has assured that the matter will be thoroughly reviewed, and strict action will be taken against the concerned officials if negligence is found. Meanwhile, the need to improve security arrangements to prevent such incidents in the future is being emphasized.
