Russia launched drone and missile attacks on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, resulting in three deaths and 21 injuries. Eighteen buildings were destroyed. In retaliation, Ukraine targeted Russian airbases.
Russia-Ukraine Attack: The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate dangerously. On Saturday, Russia launched a major attack on the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine, resulting in the confirmed deaths of three people and injuries to at least 21 others. The attack involved drones, missiles, and deadly aerial glide bombs, causing widespread destruction across the city.
18 high-rise buildings and 13 private houses damaged
Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov reported that 18 high-rise buildings and 13 private houses in the city were severely damaged in the Russian attack. Preliminary reports indicate that Russia used 48 Shahed drones, two missiles, and four aerial glide bombs in this attack.
The Shahed drone is an Iranian-made unmanned aerial vehicle that Russia has increasingly used in recent months for attacks on Ukraine. Aerial glide bombs, meanwhile, are notorious for their accuracy and destructive capabilities.
Ukraine retaliated with devastating attacks
Earlier, Ukraine launched drone attacks inside Russia, targeting several airbases. According to a Reuters report, Ukraine used 117 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to attack four separate Russian airbases. Satellite imagery analysis suggests that several Russian bomber aircraft were either destroyed or severely damaged in the attack.
Current Status of the Russia-Ukraine War
The war, which began in 2022 between Russia and Ukraine, has evolved into a brutal and protracted conflict. The competition between the two sides has intensified significantly, involving military technology, drone warfare, and missile systems.
Cities like Kharkiv and Donetsk are repeatedly targeted by Russian attacks, while Ukraine is now targeting Russian air bases in retaliation. This situation has become extremely dangerous and volatile for civilians.
