KP Sharma Oli Moves to Private Residence After Gen-Z Movement; Sushila Karki Heads Interim Nepal Government

After the Gen-Z movement in Nepal, KP Sharma Oli is no longer under military protection and is residing in a private residence. Sushila Karki has become the head of the interim government. Oli's supporters may organize a separate program on Constitution Day.

Nepal: KP Sharma Oli, who resigned from the post of Prime Minister after the Gen-Z movement in Nepal, has now moved out of military protection and is living in a private residence. An interim government has been formed in Nepal, and Sushila Karki has become its head. Following violent protests during the Gen-Z movement on September 9, Oli immediately resigned from the prime ministership and was subsequently kept under military protection for nine days.

The Nepal Army has confirmed that he has now been transferred to his private residence, although his current address has not been officially disclosed. Media reports claim that Oli has shifted to a private house located in the Gundu area of Bhaktapur district, approximately 15 km east of Kathmandu.

9 Days Spent Under Military Protection

KP Sharma Oli spent nine days under military protection after his resignation. It is believed that this barracks was located in the Shivapuri forest area, north of Kathmandu. During this period, the Nepal Army maintained special surveillance and ensured his security. The army stated that Oli is now in a safe private location. This move is considered crucial for his life and security following the political crisis and violent protests.

Gen-Z Movement and Attack on Home

The Gen-Z movement, which began on September 8, caused political upheaval in Nepal. Protesters set fire to Oli's house in Balkot, Bhaktapur, on September 9. Following this incident, security sensitivity in the country increased. During the protests, not only Oli but also other senior leaders of Nepal, such as Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Sher Bahadur Deuba, Jhalanath Khanal, and Madhav Kumar Nepal, were under military protection for some time.

It is being said that only Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, former Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, are still under military protection. The couple also sustained injuries during the protests.

Formation of Interim Government

Sushila Karki is now the head of the interim government in Nepal. Efforts are being made to bring stability to the country under this new political structure. The Gen-Z movement and subsequent events have made Nepal's political situation sensitive. On the occasion of the new Constitution Day, political activities and security arrangements in the country have been further tightened.

Oli's Party

Oli's CPN-UML party is planning a separate program on September 19, Constitution Day, in Chyasal, Lalitpur district. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether KP Sharma Oli will attend this event. This year, Constitution Day will be celebrated on Ashoj 3 according to Nepal's Bikram Sambat calendar, which falls on September 19 according to the Gregorian calendar. This day commemorates the promulgation of the country's constitution by the Constituent Assembly on September 20, 2015.
