Kullu Cloudburst: Heavy rains in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh last night caused devastation. The cloudburst in the Samana area of Lagghati swept away three shops and a motorcycle in the flood. The surrounding fields have also been severely affected by this disaster, causing heavy losses to local farmers. Currently, the district administration is engaged in assessing the damage.

Meanwhile, due to the floods caused by the cloudburst, the Sarvari Nala is overflowing. Due to this, large cracks have appeared in the road connecting the bus stand near the Bhutnath temple. Here, the retaining wall is also on the verge of collapsing into the river, which poses a threat of further deterioration of the situation.

Devastation due to heavy rain

Last night, around two o'clock, the water of the drain in the Samana area became uncontrollable due to a sudden cloudburst. Due to the loud noise and fear of the water flow, the villagers came out of their homes. Fortunately, there has been no report of any loss of life in this incident. However, heavy rains and debris damaged people's houses and shops.

The local administration has informed that debris has entered many houses, while the crops in the fields have been completely destroyed. After the cloudburst, the Sarvari Nala is flowing above the danger mark. Due to this, large cracks have appeared in the road connecting the bus stand near the Bhutnath temple. Here, the retaining walls built along the roadside are on the verge of collapsing into the river.

Similarly, the pedestrian bridge connecting Hanuman Bagh has also been hit by the flow and is on the verge of collapse. Another pedestrian bridge in the Sarvari area has also been severely damaged.

Administration Alert, People Evacuated Safely

As the situation deteriorated in Lagghati and Sarvari area, the district administration swung into action. Deputy Commissioner Kullu Torul S. Ravish informed that the administration has moved the people living along the rivers and streams to safer places. Especially the families living in slums were immediately evacuated to safer places. He said that the assessment of the damage is ongoing and relief work is going on at a fast pace.

In view of heavy rain and bad weather, the district administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions in Kullu district on Tuesday. Bus services have also been disrupted in many areas and some roads are completely closed. The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to the local people to stay away from rivers and streams and avoid unnecessary travel.
