Mahagathbandhan and INDIA Alliance Launch Voter Rights Yatra in Bihar

In the political landscape of Bihar, the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) and the INDIA alliance are intensifying their activities in anticipation of the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and other alliance leaders have arrived in Munger for the Voter Rights Yatra (Voter Rights Journey).

Jamalpur: Preparations were completed late Thursday evening in Munger for the arrival of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, VIP chief Mukesh Sahani, and CPI National General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya under the Voter Rights Yatra. All other leaders of the INDIA alliance will also spend the night in Munger.

A tent city and pandal have been erected on Sarjan Yadav's vacant 10 bigha (approximately 6.25 acres) of land at Adampur Lal Khan Chowk, about 6 kilometers from the headquarters. Senior leaders will rest in this area, while a container van equipped with amenities has been arranged for Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. This van includes an air-conditioned room, meeting space, and toilet facilities. The dinner menu will be vegetarian.

Tent City and Van Arrangement in Adampur

A tent and pandal have been constructed on Sarjan Yadav's vacant 10 bigha land at Adampur Lal Khan Chowk in the Munger district. Senior leaders of the INDIA alliance will spend the night in this tent city, while Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav will stay in the fully equipped, air-conditioned container van. The van has a separate area for meetings, a toilet, and comfortable rooms. The dinner menu is vegetarian. 

An 80-member team of volunteers has arrived from Delhi to organize this event and oversee all preparations. Approximately 25 to 30 million rupees (2.5 to 3 crore INR) have been spent on the tent city and overnight arrangements.

Journey Begins with Litti-Chokha

Leaders of the Mahagathbandhan stated that the Yatra will begin on Friday morning. The leaders and supporters had Litti-Chokha for breakfast and then departed from Safiyabad towards Bhagalpur. The detailed route of the journey is as follows:

  • Safiyabad to Bindwara Mor
  • Bindwara Mor to Khoja Bazaar
  • Khoja Bazaar to Chandan Bagh
  • Chandan Bagh to Sonjhi Ghat
  • Sonjhi Ghat to Bhagat Singh Chowk
  • Bhagat Singh Chowk to RD & DJ College
  • After this, the Yatra will reach Bhagalpur via Bank, Nauwagadhi, Bariarpur, and Ghorghat

A large number of political leaders and supporters are expected to be present during this Yatra. Strict security arrangements have been made in view of the Yatra. SP Munger Syed Imran Masood stated that 300 soldiers, 150 DSP rank officers, and 150 magistrates have been deployed. In addition, the QRT (Quick Response Team) team will continuously patrol the route to prevent any untoward incident.

Welcome gates, banners, and posters have been put up on the Yatra route and at the event venue. Responsible officers are also present at various locations in the district to monitor the arrangements.
