Mahindra Vision S Concept SUV Unveiled: A Glimpse into the Future of Compact SUVs

Mahindra has unveiled the Vision S concept SUV, which is based on the NU IQ platform and may come with both ICE and electric powertrain options. With its robust design and features, it will compete with the Hyundai Creta and Tata Sierra. Its production version is scheduled to launch from 2027.

New Delhi: Mahindra has unveiled its new Vision S concept SUV, which is based on the company's NU IQ modular monocoque platform and may be offered in both ICE and electric powertrain options. In design, it resembles a baby Land Rover Defender and features a triple LED light set, panoramic sunroof, digital display, and 19-inch tires. Production-ready models could arrive in the market from 2027, directly competing with the Hyundai Creta and the upcoming Tata Sierra.

Design hints at Land Rover Defender

The design of the Vision S concept looks quite robust and impressive. Its upright stance and bold styling elements give it a distinct identity. The new signature Mahindra logo is present at the front. The triple set of vertical LED lights on both edges, a large black bumper, inverted L-shaped headlamps, and pixel-designed fog lamps give it a very stylish look.

To further enhance the off-road look, the concept features roof-mounted lights, a roof ladder on the side, and a jerry can. Its design seems suitable not only for urban roads but also for difficult terrains.

Strong Look in Side Profile

The Mahindra Vision S is equipped with 19-inch tires. Large wheel arches and thick black cladding all around give it a rugged SUV look. It features flush-fitting door handles, inverted L-shaped taillights, reflectors on the rear bumper, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and pixel light design. With these features, the car gives a premium off-roader feel.

Completely Modern Inside Too

Inside, the Vision S concept features a flat-bottom steering wheel with 'Vision S' written in the middle and control buttons also present. The combination of an integrated touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver display on the dashboard gives it a modern and high-tech look.

Dual-tone upholstery has been used in the interior, making it look even more premium. A panoramic sunroof feature is also provided, which makes the cabin open and full of light.

Two types of engine options

Mahindra is planning to offer both ICE and electric powertrain options in the production version of the Vision S. This will enable the SUV to attract both traditional fuel customers and those looking to switch to electric vehicles. However, the company has not yet shared complete information regarding power output and performance.

To compete with Creta and Sierra

This new SUV from Mahindra is directly challenging the Hyundai Creta and the upcoming Tata Sierra. Considering the design, features, and powertrain options, it can establish a b foothold in the compact and mid-size SUV segment.

When will it come to market?

Mahindra has clarified that the production-ready versions of the SUVs being prepared on this platform will begin to launch from 2027. There is also a possibility that the Vision S concept will be included in the Scorpio family. It could be the next generation Scorpio, Scorpio EV, or a Scorpio-based compact SUV.
