Ambedkar Nagar district witnessed a tragic escalation of a dispute in Astabad village (Sammanpur), where an argument over spitting in front of a house culminated in a murder. Shailesh, who intervened to mediate between the parties, was fatally struck in the head with a fish-cutting cleaver by Banke. Police have registered a murder case and apprehended the accused.
According to local residents, a daily dispute occurred between the families of Mahendra and Sitaram regarding spitting outside their homes. Late Thursday night, this ongoing disagreement turned violent. When Shailesh attempted to de-escalate the situation, Sitaram’s sons, Gulab and Subhash, attacked him.
Shailesh was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition, but doctors pronounced him dead. Several others, including Vipin, Kundan, and Vijay Bahadur, also sustained serious injuries during the altercation.
Police have filed a case with serious charges of murder and have arrested all the main accused. Circle Officer Nitish Tiwari and ASP also inspected the crime scene during the night.
This incident serves as a stark example of how a minor issue can escalate into a major conflict in rural areas, and it raises questions about the security arrangements in the locality.
