Rajkummar Rao's highly anticipated film 'Malik' has finally been released in theaters. There was considerable buzz surrounding the film before its release, and anticipation was evident among the audience.
Manushi Chhillar Career: Having won the Miss World 2017 title and coming into the limelight, Manushi Chhillar was expected to achieve great things when she entered Bollywood. She had it all: great looks, glamour, and a graceful personality. However, even after three years, her film career appears to be a struggle. After three consecutive flops, the film 'Malik' with Rajkummar Rao could be a chance to reshape her career. But will this film save her from sinking? Let's find out.
Started with a Grand Debut with 'Samrat Prithviraj,' but the film flopped
Manushi Chhillar made her Bollywood debut in 2022, and that too with the big-budget historical film 'Samrat Prithviraj' from the Yashraj banner. She was opposite Akshay Kumar in this film, and this film, filled with patriotic sentiment, arrived in theaters with high expectations. But this film, made with a budget of around 200 crores, could only earn 68 crores at the box office. The weak script and poor screenplay sealed its fate. As a result, Manushi's dream debut faded.
'The Great Indian Family' with Vicky Kaushal also flopped
After her debut, Yashraj Films gave Manushi another chance, this time in the comedy-drama 'The Great Indian Family' with Vicky Kaushal. This film depicted the issues of society and religion in a comedic manner. But the film's promotion was very weak, and with a meager earning of 5-6 crores, this film turned into a disaster. The audience was also unaware of the film's release. That is, Manushi's second attempt also failed at the box office.
'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' became the third big flop
Manushi's third film was 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', in which she worked again with Akshay Kumar. This time, Tiger Shroff was also in the film, and Ali Abbas Zafar was directing. The film was described as an action and VFX-filled science-fiction masala film. But this film also, made with a budget of around 350 crores, could reach only 70 crores. The result - another mega flop.
So far, three films, three big superstars, three big banners, and failure at the box office every time. Manushi's career has become a series of flops.
'Malik' - the last hope?
Now let's talk about Manushi's fourth film 'Malik', in which she is sharing the screen with Rajkummar Rao for the first time. In the film, Rajkummar is in the role of a gangster, and the story revolves entirely around his character. Manushi's role in this film is supportive and has limited screen time, but even then, this film has become psychologically important for her.
Although the film has received mixed reviews on the first day and the opening collection has also been average, it cannot be said whether the film will be a hit or not. But if this film survives on the strength of word-of-mouth publicity, Manushi can at least get a positive identity. Four films in three years and the failure of every film, this indicates that only glamour and beauty cannot win the long race in Bollywood now. Manushi now needs to choose acting-focused scripts, play excellent characters on indie films or OTT platforms.
