Maulana Mehmood Madani was once again elected as the central president at the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind meeting in New Delhi. The meeting discussed the Waqf Act 2025, issues of Muslim minorities, and the Palestine peace agreement.

New Delhi: In a meeting of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind's working committee held on Wednesday, Maulana Mehmood Asad Madani was once again elected as the organization's president. Executive committees from all states had recommended his name, and he was unanimously declared the central president for a new term. Under his leadership, several important topics were discussed at the meeting, including the Waqf Amendment Act 2025, allegations of infiltration against Muslims, the Palestine peace agreement, and increasing challenges faced by Muslim minorities.

Allegations of Infiltration Against Muslims are Baseless

Maulana Madani expressed concern in the meeting over issues such as increasing pressure on minorities in the country, insult to their religious symbols and terminology, bulldozer actions, restrictions on religious freedom, and campaigns against Halal. He stated that statements accusing Muslims of changing demographics and infiltration are detrimental to national unity, social harmony, and constitutional equality. The Jamiat's executive committee clarified that the central government has repeatedly stated in the Supreme Court and Parliament that no authenticated number of illegal infiltrators is available. Therefore, such allegations are entirely baseless.

Protest Against Waqf Act 2025 Continues

The meeting also extensively discussed the Waqf Act 2025 and the proposal for the Umeed portal. Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind believes that this act poses a serious threat to the religious identity and management of Waqf. The committee stated that they would continue their b opposition to it at constitutional, legal, and democratic levels. Furthermore, a demand was made to the government to extend the registration deadline by at least two years to provide the community with sufficient time. Jamiat also clarified that the responsibility for illegal infiltration rests solely with the government and the Ministry of Home Affairs, and attributing it to the Muslim community is entirely wrong.

Demand for an Independent Palestinian Nation

In a resolution related to the Palestine peace agreement, the executive committee stated that lasting peace in the Middle East is not possible until a sovereign and independent Palestinian nation is established according to the 1967 borders. Under this, Jerusalem should be made its capital, and the religious status and security of all holy sites, including Al-Aqsa Mosque, should be guaranteed.

Jamiat appealed to the international community, particularly the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and other countries worldwide, to ensure the establishment of the Palestinian nation and the protection of its holy sites. They also demanded effective action against illegal Jewish settlements, occupations, and forced evictions.
