In Meerut, three associates of BJP leader Vikul Chaprana have been arrested in connection with the case where he allegedly forced a businessman to rub his nose on the ground. Police have intensified the investigation by adding non-bailable sections to the case, while the search for Vikul continues.
Meerut: The incident involving the assault on businessman Satyam Rastogi and him being publicly forced to rub his nose on the ground at Tezgadi intersection has stirred political and administrative circles. Following the escalation of the dispute, three associates of suspended BJP leader Vikul Chaprana were arrested late Wednesday night. Police have added non-bailable sections to the FIR. SP City Ayush Vikram Singh stated that Vikul Chaprana's location has been traced to Faridabad, where raids are being conducted. Two police teams are actively working for his arrest.
Altercation Over Parking Dispute
On the night of October 19, Vikul Chaprana and his associates attacked businessman Satyam Rastogi and his friend over a parking dispute. It is alleged that during this incident, they broke the car's windows and forced him to rub his nose on the road as an apology, even in the presence of the police.
After the video of the incident went viral on social media, outrage spread throughout the city. On October 21, the police registered a case based on a complaint filed by Satyam's brother. Vikul was arrested on the same day but secured bail from the court that very night.
Arrested Accused and Police Action
The three arrested accused are Vikul's student associates – Happy Bhadana (LLB student), Ayush Sharma (MBA student), and Subodh Yadav (B.Tech student). They have been sent to jail. In the initial investigation, the in-charge of Kirti Palace police post, a head constable, and a constable have been line-attached (transferred to reserve line) as they were present at the scene during the incident. SP City Ayush Vikram Singh stated that six other accused in the entire case have also been identified.
BJP Leaders Assure Justice to Businessman
After the incident, the opposition accused the BJP of favoritism and protecting hooliganism. Following this, senior BJP leaders met businessman Satyam Rastogi at his home.
BJP District President Shivkumar Rana, Metropolitan President Vivek Rastogi, State Trade Cell Convener Vineet Agarwal, and other leaders shared the businessman's distress and assured him of justice. The businessman emotionally stated that a leader from the very party he trusted had tarnished his dignity.
