Ministry of Home Affairs Relocates to CCS-3 Building Under Central Vista Project

The Ministry of Home Affairs has begun its office relocation from North Block. Several officials, including Home Secretary Govind Mohan, have already moved to the CCS-3 building. Home Minister Amit Shah's office will also be transferred soon.

MHA Shift CCS-3: Under the Government of India's ambitious Central Vista Project, the Ministry of Home Affairs' (MHA) office is being relocated from the British-era 'North Block' to the new, modern CCS building. This change will not only modernize the administrative structure but also give a new identity to historical buildings.

Many Senior Officials Have Already Shifted

According to sources, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, some Joint Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, and their staff have already shifted to the newly constructed CCS-3 building. In the coming days, other officers and employees will also be transferred to this building. However, the office of Union Home Minister Amit Shah is currently still in North Block, but the process of its relocation has also begun.

More Than 350 Office Rooms Allotted

Approximately 350 rooms have been allocated to the Ministry of Home Affairs in the new CCS building. This relocation is part of the Central Vista project strategy, which aims to make government operations better and more organized.

Historical Heritage to Get a New Look

The red sandstone building of North Block has been the headquarters of the Home Ministry for almost 90 years. It was designed by British architect Herbert Baker. Similarly, South Block housed the offices of major ministries such as Defence, Finance, and External Affairs. Now that these ministries will be relocated to the new CCS buildings, North and South Block will be converted into museums.

Yuge Yugeen Bharat: Preparing to Become the World's Largest Museum

The government plans to create a museum called 'Yuge Yugeen Bharat' in these two historical buildings. This museum will be spread over approximately 1.55 lakh square meters and will have more than 950 rooms. This museum will showcase India's cultural, historical, and political journey and will be counted among the world's largest museums.

CCS Building: The New Administrative Center of Modern India

Under the Central Vista project, the government has proposed a total of 10 new government office buildings and a modern Conference Centre on Kartavya Path. These buildings are being called the Common Central Secretariat (CCS). So far, the construction of three buildings has been completed, one of which has been occupied by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Other Ministries Will Also Be Included

In addition to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), the Ministry of Rural Development, and DOPT (Department of Personnel and Training) are also being relocated to the CCS-3 building. This will improve coordination between ministries and increase efficiency.
