Starc's Statement on Retirement
Speaking on his decision, Mitchell Starc said:
'I have enjoyed every T20 match I have played for Australia. Especially the 2021 World Cup, as we won the title and the team environment was excellent. My focus now is on Test cricket and the ODI format. I want to be fully fit and fresh for the upcoming tour of India, the Ashes series, and the 2027 ODI World Cup. This is the right time for me to step away from the T20 format.'
The Chairman of Australian Selectors, George Bailey, lauded Starc. He said, Mitchell Starc should be proud of his T20 career. He was part of the 2021 World Cup-winning team. His wicket-taking ability and aggressive bowling style have always made him special. Meanwhile, Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg also supported Starc's decision.
