Monsoon Session 2025: Regarding the Parliament's Monsoon Session starting on July 21, 2025, the central government convened an all-party meeting with leaders from all parties. The meeting lasted approximately one and a half hours, during which representatives from various political parties expressed their concerns and suggestions on important national issues. Topics discussed at the meeting included the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, Operation Sindoor, improvements to the voter list, and bills related to the Waqf Board.
Government Ready for Discussion, but Under the Rules
After the meeting, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju addressed the media, stating that the government is ready for discussion on every issue. He clarified that the discussion will only take place under the rules of Parliament. He mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself will be present in the House during the debates on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.

Union Ministers JP Nadda, Kiren Rijiju, Congress MPs Manickam Tagore and Jairam Ramesh, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, Union Minister Anupriya Patel, NCP's Supriya Sule, BJP MP Ravi Kishan, and representatives from other parties participated in the meeting. Leaders from the Samajwadi Party, YSR Congress, JDU, AIADMK, CPI(M), and DMK also presented their views.
Government in the Opposition's Crosshairs: Key Issues
The opposition is preparing to corner the government on several issues in the Monsoon Session. The opposition's main objections are focused on the following points:
Pahalgam Attack and Security Lapse – The opposition wants answers from the government regarding the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22nd. They claim this is a case of security lapse and accountability must be determined.
Operation Sindoor and Questions on Foreign Policy – Regarding Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7th, the opposition alleges that India's foreign policy has not been effective on this issue.
Changes to Bihar's Voter List – The opposition has described the Special Intensive Revision being conducted in the voter list ahead of the upcoming Bihar elections as interference in the democratic process.
Full Statehood for Jammu and Kashmir – Jammu and Kashmir has not received full statehood after its reorganization. The opposition has been consistently demanding its restoration.
American Interference and International Concern
Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh also expressed concern regarding the statement made by US President Donald Trump on the ceasefire. The opposition believes that the government should adopt a clear and self-reliant stance on foreign policy, ensuring that India's sovereignty is not affected.

House Will Not Function for Two Days on Independence Day
The Monsoon Session will run from July 21st to August 21st. However, parliamentary proceedings will be adjourned on August 13th and 14th due to Independence Day celebrations.
