Mumbai Rains Disrupt Travel: IndiGo Issues Advisory as Flights and Roads are Affected

The situation in Mumbai has deteriorated due to continuous rain. Road and air traffic have been affected. IndiGo has advised passengers to reach the airport early and check their flight status to avoid inconvenience.

Mumbai Rain: The monsoon has once again picked up pace in Mumbai. The heavy rains on Tuesday and Wednesday disrupted normal life in the city. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, the country's largest airline company, IndiGo, has issued a special travel advisory for passengers. The company has said that air traffic may be affected due to heavy rains and passengers should factor in extra time for travel.

IndiGo Issues Important Advice to Passengers

In its statement, IndiGo said that air traffic may increase due to rain, which may affect flight operations. The company has appealed to passengers to consider traffic and waterlogging conditions when leaving home for the airport. IndiGo has clarified that passengers will be informed of any changes in the flight schedule via SMS and email.

The airline also said that all passengers should check their flight status on the website or mobile app before traveling so that they have complete information before arriving at the airport.

Flights Affected on Tuesday

Due to heavy rains on Tuesday, the landing and take-off of several flights were affected at Mumbai Airport. From midnight to 7 pm, about 11 flights had to be diverted to other airports. In addition, 24 flights had to abort landing and attempt again. The evening flights were most affected, with passengers facing delays of one to one and a half hours.

Severe Waterlogging on Mumbai Roads

The effect of the rain was not only on air traffic but also on road traffic. Traffic was jammed for a long time due to waterlogging in many areas. Power outages were observed in areas such as Andheri, Jogeshwari, Kandivali, Vile Parle and Ghatkopar in Mumbai. Two substations of Adani Electricity in Kurla were closed, affecting about 1000 families.

Major Changes in BEST Bus Routes

Public transport within the city was also affected due to the rain. BEST reported that more than 135 bus routes had to be diverted on Tuesday due to waterlogging. This was the largest diversion in recent years, causing a lot of trouble for the passengers.

Passengers Facing Heavy Difficulties

Due to rain and waterlogging, auto and taxi drivers also refused to take passengers in many places. This caused a lot of trouble for people going to the office and those leaving for the airport. Local trains were also running late in many places, which further increased people's problems.

Meteorological Department's Alert

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra for the next 24 hours. The department has appealed to people to avoid unnecessary travel and stay in a safe place.
