Following the success of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, preparations are now underway to implement the same process in other states across the country. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, in a conversation with the media, stated that under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), names of ineligible voters have been removed, and eligible voters can fill Form-6 or Form-7 for enrollment before the elections. He clarified that the final decision on its implementation will be taken by the Election Commission (Election Commission).
Three Election Commissioners to Decide on SIR
The Chief Election Commissioner informed that the Election Commission had announced a plan for all-India level electoral roll revision at the time of the SIR process launch in Bihar on June 24. Currently, work is ongoing on this plan, and the dates for commencing SIR in other states of the country will be decided in a meeting of the three Election Commissioners. Instructions have been given to electoral officers in each state to be prepared for this.
He added that electoral officers in Bihar were instructed to be fully prepared for the electoral roll revision campaign by September 30. To ensure that the process can be uniformly implemented across all states, the Election Commission is continuously providing monitoring and guidance.
Bihar to Provide a New Model of Election Reform to the Nation
Gyanesh Kumar stated that Bihar gave birth to democracy from Vaishali, and now Bihar itself will provide a new direction for election reform (election reform) to
