In Imamganj village, Nalanda, an 80-year-old woman and a 14-year-old teenager died on Tuesday night after the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed. A 12-year-old child was seriously injured in the accident. The family and villagers demanded compensation, while the police sent the bodies for post-mortem and started investigating the matter.
Bihar: Late on Tuesday night, the roof of an approximately 60-year-old dilapidated house suddenly collapsed in Imamganj village, Nalanda district. In the accident, Dharamveer Kumar's mother, Phulia Devi (80), and his son, Ashish Kumar (14), were buried under the debris and died. His younger son, Niranjan Kumar (12), was seriously injured and admitted to Pawapuri Medical College for treatment. With the help of villagers and police, the injured were pulled out by removing the debris.
Grandmother and Grandson Die as Roof Collapses
The incident is reported to have occurred around 11 pm on Tuesday night. The deceased elderly woman, Phulia Devi, her 14-year-old grandson, Ashish Kumar, and 12-year-old Niranjan Kumar were sleeping with their family in the old room of the house when the roof suddenly collapsed.
Hearing the loud noise of the incident, other members of the house and neighbors immediately reached the spot. Villagers immediately helped to remove the people buried under the debris. In this emergency, Phulia Devi and Ashish Kumar were pulled out of the rubble, but they had already died before treatment could be administered. Meanwhile, 12-year-old Niranjan Kumar was rescued from the debris with the help of local people and admitted to Pawapuri Medical College. His treatment is ongoing.
Police-Administration Issues Warning
Upon receiving information about the accident, Rahui Police Station President Kunal Kumar reached the scene. He said that the accident was caused by the collapse of the old and weak roof of the house. The police removed the bodies from the debris and sent them for post-mortem.
The police stated that there are many old houses in the area, in which the people living may be in danger. The administration has issued a warning that people should avoid staying in such dilapidated houses at night.
Fear and Concern Among Villagers After Accident
After the accident in Imamganj village, the family members of the deceased are in deep sorrow. Villagers say that this incident is not just a tragedy for one family, but a warning for the entire area.
