Nepalese Army Imposes Nationwide Curfew Amidst Escalating Violence During Gen-Z Protests. Protesters Warned and Public Urged to Comply with Curfew and Disregard Rumors.

Nepal Gen-Z Protest: The situation in Nepal escalated as protests intensified and spiraled out of control. In response, the Nepalese Army announced a nationwide curfew on Wednesday. The army stated that the curfew would be effective from 5 PM and would remain in place until 6 AM the following day. This measure was deemed necessary to maintain public safety and the security of citizens. The public has been urged to stay indoors and refrain from unnecessary movement during the curfew.

Infiltration of Protests

The Nepalese Army issued a statement declaring that disruptive elements had infiltrated the protests. These groups were responsible for arson, looting, vandalism, and attacks on citizens and property. There were also attempts at sexual assault. The army clarified that if such activities persist, they will be met with b action. Therefore, maintaining peace and enforcing the curfew became imperative.

Appeal to the Public

The army expressed gratitude to the public in its statement and conveyed condolences for the loss of life and property during the unrest. They appealed to citizens to cooperate in preventing criminal activities during the protests. During the curfew, vehicles providing essential services such as ambulances, hearse vans, fire trucks, healthcare workers, and security forces will be permitted to operate. The public and service providers have been advised to coordinate with security officials.

Action Against Rumor Mongers

The army also warned that while the process for a political solution is ongoing, any act of vandalism, looting, or attack will be considered a criminal offense. Security forces will deal with such activities stringently. The army urged retired soldiers, government employees, journalists, and the general public not to spread rumors and to rely only on official information. The Nepalese Army reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and humanitarian relief of all citizens.

Statement from Gen Z Protestors

Youth operating under the banner of 'Gen Z Protestors' released an official statement. They stated that their movement is committed to peaceful civic engagement and distances itself from recent acts of vandalism and looting. Their activists are voluntarily working on the ground, assisting in the protection of citizens and public property.

Clarification on Jail Vandalism

The group clarified that they have no connection to the vandalism at Nakhhu Jail or the release of Rabi Lamichhane, a leader of the National Independent Party. Rabi Lamichhane is accused in a multi-crore cooperative deposit scandal. Gen Z Protestors also stated that political elements or opportunists are attempting to instigate violence in the movement, which they oppose.

The group called upon volunteers to help protect citizens and public property. They also requested the Nepalese Army to assess the situation and impose a curfew where necessary. The goal of Gen Z Protestors is clear: a competent and corruption-free government. They will continue their struggle for a better future with peace, unity, and integrity.
