Canara Bank, PNB, and HDFC Bank have implemented new fee rates for IMPS starting August 2025. A maximum of ₹5 lakh can be transferred per day via IMPS. The fee amount varies according to the transfer amount and the bank, such as free up to ₹1000, while larger transfers are charged up to ₹20 + GST.
IMPS Charges: Despite real-time money transfers being easy through IMPS in Digital India, some banks have now increased charges for it. Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB), and HDFC Bank have implemented new rates from August 2025. A maximum of ₹5 lakh can be transferred per day through IMPS. The fee amount varies depending on the transfer amount and the bank, with lower fees for smaller transfers and higher fees for larger transfers.
IMPS Limit and Convenience
You can transfer a maximum of ₹5 lakh per day through IMPS. This facility is quite convenient for the customer because the money reaches the recipient's account immediately. Earlier, there were no charges for using IMPS in government banks. On the other hand, private banks have already been charging some nominal fees. From August 2025, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, and HDFC Bank have implemented new rates in IMPS charges.
Canara Bank IMPS Charges
Canara Bank has fixed the IMPS charge based on slabs.
- No charge for transfers up to ₹1000.
- ₹3 + GST for transfers from ₹1000 to ₹10,000.
- ₹5 + GST for transfers from ₹10,000 to ₹25,000.
- ₹8 + GST for transfers from ₹25,000 to ₹1,00,000.
- ₹15 + GST for transfers from ₹1,00,000 to ₹2,00,000.
- ₹20 + GST for transfers from ₹2,00,000 to ₹5,00,000.
Canara Bank has made this change to maintain convenience for the customer with a nominal fee.
Punjab National Bank IMPS Charges
PNB has fixed different rates for IMPS charges for branch and online transfers.
- No charge for transfers up to ₹1000.
- ₹6 + GST from branch, ₹5 + GST online for ₹1001 to ₹1,00,000.
- ₹12 + GST from branch, ₹10 + GST online for above ₹1,00,000.
PNB has kept online transfers cheaper for customers, so that digital transactions can be promoted.
HDFC Bank IMPS Charges
HDFC Bank has fixed different rates for general and senior citizens.
- Up to ₹1000: ₹2.50 for general customers, ₹2.25 for senior citizens.
- ₹5 for general customers, ₹4.50 for senior citizens for ₹1000 to ₹1,00,000.
- ₹15 for general customers, ₹13.50 for senior citizens for above ₹1,00,000.
HDFC Bank has fixed such rates so that customers of all classes can use IMPS and senior citizens can be given a little concession.
