Three major car companies in the country are set to launch new SUV vehicles around Diwali this year. Buying vehicles during the festive season has always been a popular trend, and companies try to strengthen their hold on the market by launching their new models on this occasion. This year, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata Motors are bringing their new SUVs, which will be quite b in terms of design, technology, and features.
Maruti's New SUV Escudo to Make Waves in the Mid-Segment
Maruti Suzuki is embarking on a new beginning this time with its new SUV "Escudo". This vehicle will be launched on September 3, 2025. The company had initially planned to make this vehicle a 7-seater, but later decided to launch it as a 5-seater SUV.
The Escudo has been developed on the same platform as the Maruti Grand Vitara. It will be available with both non-hybrid and b hybrid engine options. Its length may be slightly more than the Grand Vitara, which will provide better cabin space.
This new SUV from Maruti has been specially designed keeping in mind those who want an option between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. Its estimated price is likely to be between ₹10 lakh and ₹18 lakh (ex-showroom).
This vehicle has been spotted on the roads several times during testing. It will have a sporty look and will also get the latest safety features. This SUV will directly compete with Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Maruti will sell it through its Arena dealerships.
Hyundai Venue's New Avatar, Major Changes in Features
Hyundai Motor India is also preparing to launch the new-generation model of its popular SUV Venue in October this year. This vehicle will come in a completely new look and will also have many new features added.
This SUV was recently spotted during testing. Although the car was camouflaged, the Creta-like quad headlights and newly styled DRLs were clearly visible. It will have new 16-inch alloy wheels and disc brakes on all four wheels.
Special attention has been given to safety features in the new Venue. It may now get Level 2 ADAS technology, which was previously only seen in premium cars. The current model has Level 1 ADAS, but the new Venue will be made even safer.
Talking about its interior, the dashboard will be given a new design that will be very similar to the Creta and Alcazar. It may also get features like ventilated seats, a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof.
There will be no major changes in the engine options for now. It will continue to get the existing 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines. However, these engines will be updated according to the new BS-6 Stage 2 emission standards.
Tata Sierra's Comeback, Now in a More Powerful and Advanced Avatar
Tata Motors is bringing back its iconic SUV Sierra to the market once again. This vehicle was quite popular in the 90s and now Tata will launch it in a new avatar by the end of 2025.
The Tata Sierra will be launched in petrol, diesel, and electric versions. The company showcased it in pre-production form at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Its design will be quite modern and boxy, but it will also have a glimpse of the old model.
The Sierra will get a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine which will be used in the entry-level variants. On the other hand, the top variant will get a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which was also shown earlier at the 2023 Auto Expo.
Talking about the EV version, it will be based on Tata's Ziptron technology and is expected to offer a range of up to 500 kilometers.
The interior of this SUV will also be quite premium. It will get advanced features like a large touchscreen system, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless charger, connected car features, and ventilated seats.
The Sierra will be introduced with an interior design inspired by Tata's Harrier and Curvv SUVs. In addition, features like Level 2 ADAS technology, 360-degree camera, hill hold control, and multiple driving modes can also be seen in it.
Competition to Increase in the SUV Segment
With the arrival of these three SUVs, the competition in the mid-segment and compact SUV segment will intensify further. On one hand, Maruti will try to strengthen its hold, while Hyundai will try to maintain its lead in the market by further upgrading its Venue. At the same time, Tata will try to enhance the brand's reputation by re-launching its Sierra.
These three vehicles can attract buyers a lot on the occasion of Diwali. From design to safety and technology, these SUVs are bringing something new in every aspect. Now it remains to be seen which vehicle customers place more trust in.
