Although the company may be entrusted with operating the stadium, it will not be permitted to increase fees for sports facilities at its own discretion. The Authority may also seek to improve the quality of facilities available at the stadium and provide a better environment for players. Attention will also be given to regular maintenance, cleanliness, security and the availability of sports facilities.
The proposed private operation is also expected to bring greater organisation to the stadium's revenue and expenditure management. However, as the stadium is a public facility, the Authority will continue to oversee commercial activities and fee determination.
There will also be a need to bring greater clarity to the rules governing the use of the stadium. The prescribed conditions may specify charges for different facilities, booking procedures and categories of concessions available to players.
The Authority's continued control means that the operating company will be required to comply with established rules and contractual conditions. If the company fails to meet the prescribed standards, the Authority may take action against it.
For players, the most important aspects remain the quality of facilities and the level of fees. If the new operating arrangement improves management while keeping charges under control, it may benefit players in the city, particularly young athletes by providing better sports facilities.
