New Delhi: Political turmoil has once again intensified in the country regarding the election system and the fundamental sanctity of democracy. On Monday (August 11), opposition parties staged a march from Parliament to the Election Commission office in Delhi, bly protesting against allegations of rigging in the elections. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also participated in this march, leveling sharp accusations against the Election Commission and the BJP government.

Opposition Parties' March and Police Action

The purpose of this protest march held in Delhi was to raise a voice for the protection of democracy against the Election Commission. Prominent opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Sanjay Raut, Akhilesh Yadav, and Manoj Jha, along with several other MPs, were taken into police custody. However, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh played an active role in this march and bly criticized the Election Commission's policies by chanting slogans like 'Withdraw SIR'.

Sanjay Singh also held a placard that read, "Why silence on SIR?" This placard was in protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiated before the Bihar Assembly elections.

Sanjay Singh's Allegations

Sanjay Singh alleged that the country's Prime Minister was elected through illegitimate means and that power was obtained by misusing the Election Commission. He said,

'It has been proven that the country's Prime Minister was elected through illegal means. By adopting tactics and misusing the Election Commission, he became the Prime Minister of the country. This government is an illegal government.'

Sanjay Singh spoke of irregularities in elections in Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, and also in Bihar. He accused the Election Commission of lacking transparency in the matter of deleting votes and said that the meaning of democracy is lost when the Election Commission is kept in a political setting.

Support for Rahul Gandhi's Allegations

Sanjay Singh, supporting the allegations of electoral irregularities made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, said that Rahul Gandhi has also provided evidence for the allegations he has made. In Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party also exposed the Election Commission's irregularities with evidence. Actually, Rahul Gandhi recently, citing the example of a seat in the Karnataka Assembly elections, had alleged that thousands of bogus votes were cast and lakhs of valid votes were deleted. He has demanded that 'vote theft' be stopped.

The Election Commission has rejected these serious complaints and allegations of the opposition. The Commission has described the allegations as baseless and has issued notices to the leaders making the allegations, ordering them to submit an affidavit. On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi has clearly denied these allegations leveled against the Election Commission.
