Negligence of police exposed after Chandan Mishra murder in Patna's Paras Hospital. Several policemen found guilty in the investigation have been suspended. The City SP has intensified patrolling and investigation operations.
Chandan Mishra Murder Case: In broad daylight, criminals shot and killed Chandan Mishra at Paras HMRI Hospital, Raja Bazaar, Patna. This incident occurred while he was admitted to a private ward in the hospital. The criminals entered the ward, opened fire indiscriminately, and fled the scene. Most shockingly, the criminals carried out the crime with brazenness, and no police personnel were seen anywhere near the scene.
Police Negligence Exposed, Several Suspended
This incident has raised questions about the entire Patna police administration. The investigation revealed that the police personnel on patrol duty at the time of the attack had shown serious negligence in their duties. Based on this, a Sub-Inspector, two ASIs, and two constables from Shastri Nagar police station have been suspended with immediate effect.
Along with this, three ASIs posted at Gandhi Maidan, Secretariat, and Gardanibagh police stations have also been suspended on charges of negligence in their duties. The police administration has made it clear that security lapses will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
City SP Takes Command Herself
Following the incident, Patna's City SP, Deeksha herself, has been continuously patrolling the crime scene and surrounding areas. In the past four days, she has not only reviewed the security arrangements but has also identified the police personnel who were negligent during their duty. All such police personnel are being suspended.
Under the supervision of the City SP, patrolling and checking operations have been intensified throughout the area. Along with the deployment of police officers, campaigns such as 'Roko-Toko' (Stop-Check) and vehicle checking are being given priority so that such incidents do not occur in the future.
Serious Lapses Found in Four Police Station Areas
Despite the strictness, a significant lack of vigilance was found among police personnel in the Shastri Nagar, Gandhi Maidan, Secretariat, and Gardanibagh police station areas.
- Shastri Nagar: Officers from the police station were found absent during patrolling.
- Gandhi Maidan: No responsible officer was present at Kargil Chowk.
- Secretariat: The ASI deployed at Dial 112 at Chitkohra Golambar was found absent from duty.
- Gardanibagh: The ASI deployed in front of the Patliputra Hotel was missing from patrol.
- In all these cases, the concerned officers have been suspended.
Those Who Perform Better Will Be Rewarded
While strict action is being taken against negligent police personnel, those who perform their duties with strictness and vigilance are also being honored and rewarded. The City SP has made it clear that those who work honestly will be appreciated, and those who are negligent will be punished.
Strict Message from Range IG
Range IG Jitendra Rana has stated in clear terms that negligence by any police personnel during duty will no longer be tolerated. He said that police personnel who lapse in duty will be identified, and strict action will be taken against them. He informed that along with the City SP, five to six DSPs/SDPOs are continuously monitoring patrolling and checking points. All necessary steps are being taken to improve the security arrangements throughout the city.
