Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged across India on June 2, 2026, according to the latest rates issued by state-owned oil marketing companies. Fuel prices in major cities remained at the previous trading day’s levels, although petrol and diesel prices continue to stay at relatively elevated levels following multiple increases in recent weeks.

Fuel prices have a direct impact on the economy and consumers’ daily expenditure, making daily revisions in petrol and diesel rates closely watched by vehicle owners, the transport sector, and businesses.

In the national capital, Delhi, petrol was priced at ₹94.77 per litre and diesel at ₹87.67 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol remained at ₹103.50 per litre and diesel at ₹90.30 per litre. In Kolkata, petrol was recorded at ₹105.41 per litre and diesel at ₹92.20 per litre. Fuel prices vary across cities due to differences in state taxes and local levies.

According to experts, no fresh increase in domestic fuel prices has been implemented for now despite fluctuations in international crude oil prices, providing temporary relief to consumers.

Fuel prices also remained stable in key cities of Uttar Pradesh. In Noida, petrol was available at ₹94.85 per litre and diesel at ₹87.98 per litre. In Lucknow, petrol was selling at ₹94.69 per litre and diesel at ₹87.81 per litre. In Patna, the capital of Bihar, petrol was recorded at ₹105.23 per litre and diesel at ₹91.49 per litre. These rates are higher than in several other cities, with local tax structures and transportation costs cited as key factors.

Petrol and diesel prices are influenced not only by international crude oil prices but also by several economic and policy-related factors. Exchange rate movements between the Indian rupee and the U.S. dollar, transportation costs, refining expenses, and taxes imposed by central and state governments affect final retail fuel prices.

Recent months have seen volatility in international energy markets, increasing cost pressures on oil companies, which has limited the scope for significant price relief at present.
