The administration has implemented special traffic arrangements for Kanwariyas travelling from Prayagraj to Varanasi. One lane of the Prayagraj–Varanasi Highway has been reserved for Kanwariyas, while barricading has been put in place at several stretches beyond Jhunsi to provide a separate route for the pilgrimage. Vehicular movement is being regulated through the other lane.
The special traffic plan has been in effect since Saturday night to facilitate the movement of Kanwariyas from Prayagraj to Varanasi. The arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of pilgrims and regulate traffic on the highway during the Kanwar Yatra.
Large numbers of Kanwariyas were also seen at the Ganga ghats. After taking a holy dip in the Ganga, devotees are filling their containers with sacred water before proceeding towards Kashi. Pilgrims carrying Kanwars on foot were seen along the Prayagraj–Varanasi route.
Police personnel have been deployed along the highway with barricading in place to ensure the safety of Kanwariyas. Officials are monitoring vehicle speed and traffic movement to prevent inconvenience to pilgrims travelling on foot.
Special prayers began at Shiva temples across Prayagraj from the morning. On the first Monday of the month of Sawan, devotees visited temples early to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva. Many devotees arrived with their families, while large numbers of young people and women also participated in the worship.
Women devotees are also participating in the Kanwar Yatra in large numbers. The administration has made special arrangements to assist women pilgrims. Women police personnel and other support teams have been deployed at ghats and along major routes.
Route diversions and barricading have been implemented to prevent disruption to vehicular movement due to the passage of Kanwariyas travelling from Prayagraj to Varanasi. The movement of large and heavy vehicles is being regulated, and alternative routes are being used.
The administration has appealed to the public to use only the designated routes and avoid crossing barricades in the interest of pilgrims' safety. Kanwariyas have also been urged to maintain discipline and cooperate with traffic management measures.
Crowds of devotees are expected to continue visiting major Shiva temples in Prayagraj throughout the day because of the first Monday of Sawan. The Jalabhishek rituals that began in the morning are continuing, and devotees are being allowed to proceed for दर्शन and worship through regulated queues.
Religious observances on the first Monday of Sawan in Prayagraj are not limited to temples. Ganga ghats, Kanwar routes and city roads are witnessing the movement of Shiva devotees. Camps have been set up at various locations to provide water and other essential facilities to Kanwariyas.
The administration's primary challenge remains maintaining security and traffic management amid the large number of devotees. One lane of the Prayagraj–Varanasi Highway has therefore been reserved for Kanwariyas to enable pedestrians to travel safely towards Varanasi.
