Punjab CM Gifts Amritsar ₹350 Crore in Development Projects

On Saturday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann gifted the holy city of Amritsar, Punjab, with development projects worth over ₹350 crore.

Amritsar: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann gifted the holy city of Amritsar, Punjab, with development projects worth over ₹350 crore on Saturday. These projects include the construction of new roads, the upgrading of connecting routes, and six modern libraries. Inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for these projects in Amritsar, CM Bhagwant Mann said that these works will symbolize the changing face of the city and help provide better opportunities for the youth.

The Chief Minister said during the ceremony that these projects, with a total cost of ₹346.57 crore, are being dedicated to the people of Amritsar. He stated that new roads have been constructed in the city at a cost of ₹56.36 crore, while the road network has been upgraded at a cost of ₹287.01 crore. Additionally, ₹3.20 crore has been spent on building six new libraries, which will become new centers of knowledge for the youth.

Historic decision in the upgradation and maintenance of roads

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann informed that the Punjab government has taken a historic decision regarding the upgradation and maintenance of connecting roads in rural areas. Until now, these roads were repaired every six years, but now their maintenance has also been included in the plan for the next five years. Mann said, "We want smooth and safe roads to be built up to the villages so that the pace of development does not stop."

Several new roads have been built in Amritsar district at a cost of ₹56.36 crore in collaboration with the Punjab Mandi Board and the Public Works Department, while extensive upgradation of old roads has been done at a cost of over ₹287 crore. This decision will benefit not only Amritsar but also the rural areas of entire Punjab.

Six new libraries, giving wings to the dreams of the youth

The Chief Minister announced the opening of new libraries in six assembly constituencies of Amritsar, with a total expenditure of ₹3.20 crore. Each library will have modern facilities such as high-speed internet, computer systems, special books for preparing for competitive exams, and world-class literature. Bhagwant Mann said that the existing two libraries (Chheharta Library and Old DC Office Library) in the Amritsar West assembly constituency have also been renovated. A budget of ₹32.58 lakh and ₹31.41 lakh has been fixed for this.

One new library will be opened in each of the North, East, Central, and South assembly constituencies of Amritsar, with an expenditure of ₹64 lakh per library. Mann expressed hope that this step will form a b foundation for the intellectual and educational development of the youth.

A new ray of hope for students

CM Mann said that these libraries will not only be places to read books but will also act as a source of inspiration. He said that by studying in these libraries, students will be able to realize their dreams and walk hand in hand with the world. He said that these libraries will become an important resource for education, literature, and preparation for competitive exams. The Chief Minister appealed to the public to make full use of these resources and also benefit the coming generations.

A new direction of development for Amritsar

Bhagwant Mann said that Amritsar has been a historical and religious center of Punjab, and the government is committed to taking it to new heights of development. He said that this is not just a gift of roads and libraries, but an investment in the future of Amritsar. CM Mann said, "This city is not just the city of Gurus, but also a symbol of the hopes of Punjab. We will make it a leader in every field."
