In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Land Pooling Policy has been denotified, fulfilling the demands of the farmers. Prior to this, the reorganization of 154 blocks in Punjab was approved in the cabinet meeting held on July 30th.

Chandigarh: Amidst continuous demands from farmers in Punjab, the state government has taken a major decision to denotify the Land Pooling Policy 2025. In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, this policy was notified keeping in mind the interests of the farmers. This decision is poised to give a new direction to land-related matters and the rural election process in Punjab.

Farmer organizations had demanded the cancellation of the notification of the Land Pooling Policy. They argued that this policy could go against the interests of small farmers and rural communities. The government took their demands seriously and decided to implement the policy.

Other Important Decisions Taken in the Cabinet Meeting

In the cabinet meeting, not only the Land Pooling Policy but also several other important decisions were taken:

  • Approval to withdraw the notification of Land Pooling Policy 2025 – This decision was taken keeping in mind the demands of the farmers.
  • Amendment to the Punjab Cooperative Societies Act, 1961 – The amendment was approved to make cooperative institutions more efficient and modern.

Impact of Reorganization of Blocks

Earlier, in the cabinet meeting held on July 30, 2025, the reorganization of 154 blocks in Punjab was approved. Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad elections will be held only after this reorganization. This step will further strengthen the democratic process in the state and help in bringing transparency to the local administration. Along with the interests of the farmers, the state government has also approved the conversion policy.

Under this, industrial plots can be used for commercial activities. This step will promote industrial development and investment in Punjab, which will increase employment opportunities and accelerate economic activities. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said after the meeting that the government always takes decisions in the interest of the farmers. He clarified that agriculture and rural development are priorities in the state and the demands of the farmers will not be ignored.
