Punjabi YouTuber Remanded in Alleged ISI Espionage Case

Punjabi YouTuber Jasbir Singh remanded for 14 days in alleged espionage network linked to ISI. Accusations include Pakistan visits and attempts to erase digital evidence.

Punjab: Jasbir Singh, a prominent Punjabi YouTuber, is facing increasing legal trouble. Accused of spying for Pakistan, he has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by a Mohali court. Police allege he was in contact with the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence), travelled to Pakistan, and leaked sensitive information related to the Indian Army.

Who is Jasbir Singh?

Jasbir Singh, also known as Jaan Mahal, hails from Mahlaan village in Rupnagar district, Punjab. He runs a YouTube channel called ‘JaanMahal Video’ with over 1.1 million subscribers. He has been active on social media for a considerable time, and his videos receive millions of views.

Arrest and Remand Proceedings

Reports indicate Jasbir Singh was arrested on June 4, 2025. Following his arrest, he was initially remanded to three days of police custody, followed by an additional two days. On June 10, after his remand period expired, he was presented in court and subsequently remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. His next appearance is scheduled for June 23.

Alleged Links to ISI

Police claim Jasbir Singh had direct contact with Pakistan's intelligence agency, the ISI. Furthermore, he was also in contact with Jyoti Malhotra, a Haryana-based social media influencer, who is already in custody in connection with this case. According to police, Jasbir visited Pakistan three times—in 2020, 2021, and 2024—during which he interacted with ISI officials and Pakistani military personnel.

Contact with Pakistan High Commission

Investigating agencies state that Jasbir Singh also met with an official from the Pakistan High Commission in India. This official has since been expelled from India. This meeting is under suspicion as Jasbir's activities became increasingly suspicious afterwards.

Attempt to Erase Digital Evidence

Another startling revelation is that Jasbir Singh attempted to erase his digital evidence after Jyoti Malhotra's arrest. He deleted significant data from his mobile phone, laptop, and other digital devices to prevent investigators from obtaining concrete evidence.

Jasbir's Attendance at Pakistan Day Celebrations

Police allege that Jasbir Singh participated in Pakistan Day celebrations held in Delhi. There, he not only met with Pakistani military officials but also interacted with vloggers from Pakistan. His activities during this event have raised several concerns.
