Jhunjhunu: Rajasthan Police has finally arrested a "Kabuutarbaaz" (fraudster involved in illegal immigration) carrying a 25,000 bounty, who had been absconding for 19 years, from Mumbai. The accused's arrest is no less than a cinematic story — he fled to Mumbai leaving his wife in the village, created a new identity, remarried, and lived an anonymous life for years using fake documents. However, the Bisau Police Station in Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan, apprehended him from the Jogeshwari area of Mumbai through their ingenuity and covert strategy.
Fraudster Absconding for 19 Years Arrested
The arrested accused has been identified as Ramzan Ali (50), resident of Kasli, Dhod Police Station, Sikar District (Rajasthan). In 2007, two cases of fraud were registered against him for "kabuutarbaazi," meaning cheating people under the pretext of sending them abroad. He had taken one and a half lakh rupees from two villagers, promising to send them abroad, but absconded after embezzling the money.
Police raided his hideouts multiple times, but he managed to evade capture each time. Eventually, he was declared a fugitive, and a reward of 25,000 rupees was announced for his capture. For nearly 19 years, the police searched for him, but the accused was living a new life in Mumbai, the financial capital of Maharashtra, after changing his identity.
Remarried in Mumbai After Changing Identity
During his time as a fugitive, Ramzan Ali had completely altered his identity. He changed his father's name, obtained a new Aadhaar card, and began presenting himself as "Ali." Among the locals, he initially worked as a laborer and later as a guard. It is reported that he had also remarried a woman in Mumbai, while his first wife still resides in their village.
According to the police, Ramzan had made every possible effort to conceal his past. He never mentioned his real village or family to anyone and had been living in a rented house in Jogeshwari East for the past few years.
Police Operation in Disguise
A special police team, led by Bisau Police Station Officer Mahendra Singh, departed for Mumbai. The team included Head Constable Birbal and Constable Shriram. The two officers arrived there disguised as representatives of a mobile company and began reconnaissance of the area under the pretext of "SIM verification."
For two days, the team searched for the accused's potential hideouts in Mumbai's Borivali, Andheri, Goregaon, and Jogeshwari areas while in disguise. Eventually, they received information that a person named "Ali" was working as a security guard in a society located in Jogeshwari East. The police reached the spot and arrested him without any commotion.
