Rajasthan's Western Districts Brace for Heavy Rainfall, Strong Winds, and Lightning

A heavy rain alert has been issued for the western parts of Rajasthan on Tuesday, September 9. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall accompanied by b winds and lightning in the districts of Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Balotra, and Bikaner. 

Weather Update: After continuous rain in the state for the past 20 days, western Rajasthan will once again experience favorable weather on Tuesday, September 9. According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon is now in its final phase and its impact will gradually decrease in the coming days. For today, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in five districts: Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Balotra, and Bikaner. 

In four of these districts, the district administration has declared holidays for school children. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to clear up from September 10 onwards.

Impact of Rain in Western Rajasthan

Rajasthan has been experiencing continuous rain for the last 20 days, causing waterlogging in many areas, damaged roads, and disruption to daily life. According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon has now entered its final stage. The impact of rain will gradually decrease in the coming days, and the weather is expected to remain clear. Nevertheless, a warning of heavy rainfall has been issued for western Rajasthan today. Special caution has been advised in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Balotra, and Bikaner.

The Meteorological Department has warned that b winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour and lightning may occur in these regions. The local administration has appealed to the public to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.

How much rain was recorded where?

In view of the threat of floods and heavy rainfall, schools have been declared closed in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, and Balotra. The district administration is continuously monitoring the weather. Disaster management teams are active and relief operations are being conducted in the affected areas. The rainfall on Monday caused significant damage in many places. 

In Jalore district, a part of the Bharat Mala Expressway was washed away by the b current of water, and the road collapsed. Meanwhile, in Dubokar village of Deeg district, a two-story house collapsed, resulting in the death of a brother and sister. In this incident, four people, including the mother, were injured. In Sawai Madhopur's Chauth Ka Barwada, the veranda of a government school collapsed. The National Highway in the Jhadol area of Udaipur district was also damaged. Movement was affected due to waterlogging and soil erosion in many places. 

Good rainfall was recorded in various parts of the state on Monday, September 8. Nokhra area of Barmer district received the highest rainfall of 60 mm. Mount Abu in Sirohi district received 45 mm, Sanchore 35 mm, Chitalwana in Jalore district 30 mm, Sindhari in Barmer 24 mm, Chauhatan 23 mm, and Baytu area recorded 17 mm of rain. This led to waterlogging in many low-lying areas.
