Historic Raksha Bandhan Celebration at Ayodhya's Ram Temple

Historic Raksha Bandhan Celebration at Ayodhya's Ram Temple

This year's Raksha Bandhan festival will be celebrated in a historic manner at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This will be the first time that a Raksha Bandhan celebration will be organized together for Lord Ram, Mata Sita, and their brothers—Bharat, Lakshman, and Shatrughna—after the consecration ceremony. On this special occasion, rakhis have been sent by Goddess Shanta, who is considered the elder sister of Lord Ram. These rakhis have been decorated with zari and pearls in the Madhubani art style. The rakhis have arrived in Ayodhya and will be tied on the wrists of Ram Lalla after due prayers and rituals.

On the auspicious occasion of Shravan Shukla Purnima, this Raksha Sutra will be offered to all the deities on behalf of Goddess Shanta. Devotees and the temple administration are engaged in preparations to make this unique festival memorable. This event, as Ram Lalla Raksha Bandhan Mahotsav, not only holds religious significance but is also going to convey a great cultural message.

The Puranic Tradition of This Festival is Connected to Shringi Rishi Ashram

A Puranic tradition is also associated with the Raksha Bandhan Mahotsav. According to beliefs, Shringi Rishi—whose Putreshti Yagya led to the birth of Lord Ram—was married to Goddess Shanta, the daughter of King Dashrath. This Rakhi is sent by Goddess Shanta to her in-laws in Ayodhya for Lord Ram. It is not only a symbol of the sacred relationship between brother and sister but also reflects the depth of tradition, faith, and emotions in this Raksha Sutra.

On this occasion, a procession will be taken out in Ayodhya on August 8, in which rakhis, fruits, sweets, and worship materials will be taken to Kar Sevak Puram. There, these materials will be formally handed over to the temple trust. Prior to this, a three-day worship, prayer, and cultural program will be organized at Shri Shringi Rishi Ashram. This event is being held under the sixth 'Ram Lalla Raksha Bandhan Mahotsav'.

Rakhis Will Showcase the Imprint of Indian Tradition and Craftsmanship

This time, the rakhis specially prepared for Ram Lalla have been crafted by women artisans of the 'Jute for Life' organization. Media in-charge Anurag Singh said that natural and spiritual elements like Kalawa, silk, Tulsi seeds, pearls, silk, and jute have been used in these rakhis. These rakhis are not only beautiful to look at but also embody the depth of Indian culture and spirituality.

Each rakhi has been prepared with a feeling of love, devotion, and tradition, which establishes Raksha Bandhan as an emotional and spiritual festival. This event will not only make Ayodhya religiously proud but will also present a new example of the brother-sister relationship across the country.

This year's Raksha Bandhan in the Ram Temple is not just a festival but is going to be a celebration of culture, tradition, and spirituality, in which every person of faith will be seen emotionally connected.
