Results of Maharashtra’s 29 Municipal Corporation Elections to Be Declared Today

The results of elections to Maharashtra’s 29 municipal corporations will be declared today. The outcome in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), along with the majority figures in all major civic bodies, is being closely watched.

The municipal corporation elections are seen as significant for urban governance as well as for shaping the direction of forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The Pune Municipal Corporation has 165 seats, with the majority mark set at 83. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has 151 seats, where 76 are required for a majority. The Thane Municipal Corporation has 131 seats, and 66 seats are needed to form the civic body’s ruling administration.

In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has 111 seats, with a majority of 56. The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation has 122 seats, and 62 seats are required for a majority. The Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation has 115 seats, with the majority figure set at 58. The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation has 95 seats, where 48 are required for control.

Among industrial cities, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has 128 seats, with the majority set at 65. The Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation has 90 seats, where 46 are required for a majority. The Panvel Municipal Corporation has 89 seats, with 45 seats needed to form the ruling body. The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation has 78 seats, and the majority mark is 40.

In western Maharashtra, the Solapur Municipal Corporation has 102 seats, with a majority of 52. The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation has 81 seats, where 41 are required. The Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Municipal Corporation has 78 seats, with the majority set at 40. The Ichalkaranji New Municipal Corporation has 76 seats, and 39 seats are required for a majority.

In Nashik and northern Maharashtra, the Nashik Municipal Corporation has 122 seats, with the majority set at 62. The Jalgaon Municipal Corporation has 75 seats, where 38 are required. The Malegaon Municipal Corporation has 84 seats, with a majority of 43. The Dhule Municipal Corporation has 74 seats, where 38 are needed for control.

The Ahmednagar Municipal Corporation has 68 seats, with the majority mark set at 35. The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) Municipal Corporation has 115 seats, where 58 are required. The Nanded-Waghala Municipal Corporation has 81 seats, with a majority of 41. The Latur Municipal Corporation has 70 seats, and 36 seats are required.

Among smaller municipal corporations, the Parbhani Municipal Corporation has 65 seats, with a majority of 33. The Jalna New Municipal Corporation also has 65 seats, where 33 are required. The Amravati Municipal Corporation has 87 seats, with the majority set at 44. The Akola Municipal Corporation has 80 seats, where 41 are needed. The Chandrapur Municipal Corporation has 66 seats, with the majority mark set at 34.
