RPSC Member Resigns Amid Rajasthan SI Recruitment Paper Leak Scandal Following High Court Scrutiny

RPSC Member Manju Sharma Resigns After High Court's Strict Remarks in Rajasthan SI Recruitment 2021 Paper Leak Controversy. She spoke of working with transparency. More than 150 people arrested.

Rajasthan SI Bharti: Following the controversy surrounding the Rajasthan SI Recruitment 2021 due to paper leaks and irregularities, Manju Sharma, a member of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) and wife of renowned poet Kumar Vishwas, resigned from her post on Monday. She submitted her resignation to the Governor after the Rajasthan High Court made severe comments on the recruitment process and decided to cancel the examination. Manju Sharma stated that she had always worked with transparency and honesty during her tenure, but the current controversy had affected her personal and institutional dignity.

Controversy Escalates After Strict High Court Remarks

The Rajasthan High Court had adopted a very strict stance regarding the irregularities and paper leak case in the SI recruitment examination held in 2021. The court had stated that these irregularities occurred with the collusion of some insiders within the commission, which the court termed as "traitors from within." Following these remarks, the transparency of the recruitment process was questioned, and eventually, the entire recruitment was canceled.

Over 150 People Arrested, Many Granted Bail

So far, more than 150 people have been arrested in this case, including trainee sub-inspectors, dummy candidates, and others involved in the paper leak. Recently, the High Court granted bail to 23 accused, including former RPSC member Ramu Ram Raika. However, the court rejected the bail applications of 30 accused. The court opined that there was no justification for keeping those who have been in jail for a long time and whose roles are now proving to be limited, incarcerated.

Manju Sharma Hurt by Questions Raised on Personal Dignity

In her resignation letter, Manju Sharma clearly stated that she had always worked with honesty and transparency. No investigation was pending against her, nor was she considered an accused in any case. Nevertheless, due to this controversy, her personal dignity and the institutional reputation of RPSC were affected. Therefore, she was resigning from her post.

Recruitment Canceled Due to Paper Leak

The irregularities in the SI recruitment examination have raised questions not only on the commission but also on the state government. The opposition continuously attacked this recruitment process, which took place during the tenure of the then Congress government. Now, with the cancellation of the recruitment, the future of thousands of aspirants has been affected. The pressure on the government to start the new recruitment process as soon as possible has also increased.
