Samsung Launches New Security Features in One UI 8 to Combat Cyber Threats

Samsung has launched three new security features in One UI 8, focusing on protecting AI data, multi-device threat response, and defense against future quantum cyberattacks.

Samsung: With the advancements in technology, security challenges are also increasing day by day. Keeping this in mind, Samsung, a leading smartphone manufacturer, has announced three powerful security features in its latest One UI 8 operating system. These features will not only help in combating current cyber threats but also protect against future quantum technology-based hacking.

This initiative by Samsung has emerged before the launch of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, suggesting that security is no longer just a part of the software, but has become the brand's primary focus.

KEEP: Now AI apps will also remain locked and secure

This new feature, called Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), is Samsung's biggest step towards AI-based privacy protection. KEEP creates an encrypted, app-specific environment in which sensitive information from AI apps, such as the user's daily activities, preferences, recommendations, etc., is stored. This data remains completely separate from other apps and is protected from any malware or unauthorized access.

For example, Samsung's AI features like Now Brief and Smart Gallery provide recommendations based on user habits. In such cases, their data remains secure under KEEP, remaining completely private.

Knox Matrix Threat Response: New update in cross-device security

The second major feature is the upgraded threat response system of Knox Matrix. This feature will be especially beneficial for users who use multiple Galaxy devices simultaneously.

The new update ensures that in the event of suspicious activity or a cyberattack on any device, the user is automatically logged out of their Samsung account. Additionally, the affected device can be locked immediately to prevent the threat from reaching other connected devices. The user is informed through a notification on other devices, and they can assess the situation by going to the "Your device security status" page.

Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection: Preparing for future technology in the present

The third feature is technically the most advanced and designed with the future in mind. With the increasing impact of quantum computing, cyberattacks are also taking on new forms. 'Harvest now, decrypt later' – attacks based on this ideology target data that can be read in the future with the help of quantum computers.

Samsung has updated the Secure Wi-Fi feature with Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection (EDP) to address this challenge. This includes a new cryptographic framework that strengthens the user's network security even on public networks.

Samsung's cybersecurity strategy: A glimpse towards the future

This move by Samsung makes it clear that the company is no longer focusing only on mobile hardware or design but is prioritizing cybersecurity in the digital age.
