The month of Sawan is a sacred time for worshipping Lord Shiva. It's the time when the entire country resonates with the chants of "Om Namah Shivaya" in temples, and devotees are seen standing in long queues to offer water. However, few people know that the month of Sawan is not only an excellent time to please Shiva, but also Saturn (Shani).
According to scriptures, Lord Shani is considered a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, and if Shiva is worshipped with devotion in Sawan, the effects of Saturn's placement in the zodiac can also be improved easily. For those whose horoscopes are affected by the Mahadasha, Sade Sati, or Dhaiya of Saturn, Sawan is no less than a blessing.
First Remedy: Rudrabhishek for Peace
Offering water on the Shivalinga and performing Rudrabhishek in Sawan is considered highly fruitful. While performing Rudrabhishek, offer pure water, milk, Gangajal, Belpatra, black sesame seeds, and honey on the Shivalinga.
This Abhishek is particularly fruitful on Sundays or Mondays. During this, keep chanting "Om Namah Shivaya." This action not only provides mental peace but also calms Saturn-related afflictions. This process gradually eliminates negative energy and brings stability to life.
Second Remedy: Chanting of Saturn Mantras
Chanting the seed mantras of Lord Shani on Saturdays, especially the Saturdays of Sawan, bestows his special grace.
It is believed that chanting mantras like "Om Sham Shanaishcharaya Namah" and "Om Praam Preem Praum Sah Shanaishcharaya Namah" 108 times removes many obstacles from life automatically. This mantra recitation softens the harsh effects of Saturn and also strengthens a person's self-confidence.
According to the scriptures, the month of Sawan is considered special for penance, meditation, and mantra sadhana. Mantra chanting done during this time is many times more effective.
Third Remedy: Obstacles Vanish with Charity
Charity has always been considered a simple and effective way to please Saturn. Donating black sesame seeds, mustard oil, black clothes, blankets, slippers, or iron objects every Saturday of Sawan can pacify the malefic effects of Saturn.
It should be especially noted that this donation should be given to a needy, elderly, helpless, or working-class person. Doing so balances the justice of Saturn and provides stability in a person's life.
Fourth Remedy: Service Brings Saturn's Grace
Lord Shani is considered the god of karma and justice. His anger falls upon those who are unjust to others or live in ego.
Therefore, in Sawan, especially on Saturdays, try to serve the poor, laborers, elderly, or blind. If you find someone hungry, feed them; if you see someone homeless, give them clothes. This service not only removes Saturn-related afflictions but also paves the way for spiritual satisfaction and merit.
Special Conjunctions in Sawan
The month of Sawan is special in any case according to the position of the planets. Sometimes, the Saturdays falling in it, along with Amavasya, Pradosh, or Shravan Nakshatra, increase the importance of Shani Puja even more.
Remedies, worship, charity, and service done during such auspicious conjunctions give many times more results. Many people also offer oil in Shani temples and recite the Shani Stotra on these special days.
Beliefs of Sages and Scriptures
Ancient texts mention that Lord Shani meditates at the feet of Lord Shiva. He pleased Shiva with his severe penance and has been considered a great devotee of Shiva since then.
Therefore, when devotees worship Shiva in Sawan, Saturn is also indirectly pleased. This is why Shani remedies performed in Sawan are considered more effective and quick-acting.
