Bangladesh: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has suffered another major setback. Two special Dhaka courts have framed charges against a total of 99 people, including Sheikh Hasina, her family members, and associates, in connection with alleged irregularities in land allocation.

Six Separate Cases in Land Scam

According to reports, these charges were filed on Thursday in six separate cases. Dhaka's Special Judge Court-4 heard three of these cases. Judge Rabiul Alam of this court framed serious charges against Sheikh Hasina in three separate cases.

In the first case, Hasina, along with her sister Sheikh Rehana and 15 others, have been named as accused. In the second case, Hasina and 18 others, including Azmina Siddique, are facing charges. In the third case, Hasina and Radwan Mujib Siddique have been accused.

Date Fixed for Witness Testimony: August 13

The court has set August 13 as the date for recording the statements of witnesses in all three cases. Arrest warrants have also been issued against all the accused.

Charges Filed in Three Other Cases As Well

Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka's Special Judge Court-5 also framed charges in three more cases related to the land allocation matter. The first case involves accusations against Sheikh Hasina and 12 others. In the second case, Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and 16 others have been accused. In the third and final case, Hasina, her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and 16 others are facing charges.

Land Allocation Occurred Against Regulations

The main allegation in all these cases is that the allocation of plots under a government housing project was done in a biased manner and in disregard of the rules. This resulted in the misuse of government property and undue benefits for several influential people.
