Smart Glass Market 2025: According to a Counterpoint Research report, global smart glass shipments reached a record high in the first half of 2025, growing by 110%. During this period, Meta secured a 73% market share, driven by b demand for Ray-Ban Meta glasses and increased production capacity with Luxottica. The report indicates that the AI-based smart glass segment experienced an annual growth of over 250%, while the popularity of smart audio glasses declined. The entry of new companies such as Xiaomi and TCL-RayNeo has further intensified competition.

Global Smart Glass Shipments Surge by 110%

Global smart glass shipments grew by 110% year-on-year in the first half of 2025, reaching new record levels. This growth was primarily driven by the unprecedented demand for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and the entry of new companies such as Xiaomi and TCL-RayNeo. According to a Counterpoint Research report, Meta's market share increased to 73% during this period, which was also supported by the expanded capacity of its production partner, Luxottica.

AI Smart Glass Emerges as the Biggest Game-Changer

The report stated that AI smart glasses accounted for 78% of total shipments, a significant jump from 46% in the first half of 2024. On a year-on-year basis, this segment recorded growth of over 250%, surpassing traditional smart audio glasses. Advanced features such as photo and video capture, image and object recognition have made AI glasses more attractive to users.

Xiaomi and New Companies Increase Competition

In addition to Meta, Xiaomi, TCL-RayNeo, Kopin Solos, and Thunderobot also achieved significant shipments in the first half of 2025. Notably, Xiaomi's AI smart glasses secured the fourth position in the global market within just one week of their launch and reached the third position in the AI category. Experts believe that even more new models, especially from Meta and Alibaba, may enter the market in H2 2025.

Glass-Based Payment Technology Being Developed in China

The report also revealed that Chinese companies are now developing AI glasses that will enable glass-based payments. The aim is to reduce people's reliance on smartphones for activities like outdoor shopping and food ordering. This technology could further accelerate the utility and adoption rate of smart glasses in the future.

Meta's Expansion into New Markets

The popularity of Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses has been highest in large markets such as North America, Western Europe, and Australia. Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2025, Meta and Luxottica entered new markets such as India, Mexico, and the UAE, further increasing their shipment share. According to Counterpoint's report, the smart glass market could grow at a CAGR of over 60% between 2024 and 2029, benefiting the entire ecosystem—OEMs, processor vendors, and component suppliers.
