Tej Pratap Yadav Nominates from Mahua with New Party, Declares Rs 2.88 Cr Assets & 8 Criminal Cases

Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is always in the limelight in Bihar politics, is once again making headlines. After being expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Tej Pratap has now filed his nomination from the Mahua assembly seat under the banner of his new political party, Janashakti Janata Dal. 

Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav, a well-known figure in Bihar politics who was recently expelled from the RJD, has now filed his nomination from the Mahua assembly seat under the banner of his new political party, Janashakti Janata Dal. During this process, he also disclosed his assets and criminal cases in his affidavit.

According to the affidavit, Tej Pratap Yadav possesses total assets worth Rs 2.88 crore, which includes movable assets of Rs 91.65 lakh and immovable assets of Rs 1.96 crore. In comparison, in 2020, he had declared movable assets worth Rs 1.22 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 1.6 crore. This indicates that over the past five years, his immovable assets have slightly increased, while his movable assets have decreased.

Tej Pratap Yadav's Assets

As per the affidavit, Tej Pratap Yadav owns total assets worth Rs 2.88 crore. This includes movable assets of Rs 91.65 lakh and immovable assets of Rs 1.96 crore. Interestingly, in 2020, he had declared movable assets of Rs 1.22 crore and immovable assets of Rs 1.6 crore. This means that over the last five years, his immovable assets have slightly increased, but his movable assets have decreased.

In the election affidavit, Tej Pratap also revealed that 8 criminal cases are pending against him. These include serious sections of the IPC such as 324, 302, 120B, and 341. Additionally, cases under Section 498 (dowry harassment), the SC/ST Act, and the Arms Act are also registered. However, he has not yet been convicted by any court in these matters.

Details of his wife, Aishwarya Rai, were not included in the affidavit, as their divorce case is currently pending in Patna's family court.

Expulsion from RJD and New Party

Tej Pratap Yadav was expelled from the party for 6 years in May 2025 by his father and RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav. The reason cited was – 'irresponsible behavior'. Following this, Tej Pratap formed a new party, Janashakti Janata Dal, and is now contesting the elections on its ticket. While filing his nomination, he also conveyed an emotional message by carrying a photograph of his late grandmother.

Tej Pratap Yadav's politics has always been surrounded by controversies. His statements, disputes over his personal life, and disagreements with party leadership have consistently kept him in the limelight. A few months ago, he claimed on social media that he was in a relationship with a woman, which led to b action from the party and his expulsion. Later, Tej Pratap stated that his Facebook account had been hacked.

Tej Pratap Yadav was elected as an RJD MLA from the Mahua assembly seat in 2020. Subsequently, the party fielded him as a candidate from the Hasanpur seat. Despite the ups and downs in politics, Tej Pratap remains one of the prominent faces in Bihar.

Bihar Assembly Elections 2025

The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are set to be very interesting this time. Voting in the state will take place in two phases:

  • Phase one: November 6, 2025
  • Phase two: November 11, 2025

Vote counting will be on November 14, 2025. The result of Tej Pratap Yadav's new innings and the test for Janashakti Janata Dal on the Mahua seat will also be revealed on the same day.
