On Saturday morning, a fire broke out in the Garib Rath Express train, which was en route from Amritsar to Saharsa, damaging 3 general coaches of the train. The incident occurred when the train was about half a kilometer from Sirhind Railway Station, heading towards Ambala.

Amritsar: Today, Saturday morning, a sudden fire erupted near Sirhind in the Garib Rath Express train, which was traveling from Amritsar to Saharsa, completely damaging three general compartments of the train. However, passengers were evacuated in time, and no casualties have been reported. The Ministry of Railways and local security officials have immediately launched an investigation, considering the seriousness of the incident.

Incident Details

The incident occurred on Saturday morning as the Garib Rath Express was proceeding from Sirhind Railway Station towards Ambala. Upon receiving reports of smoke emanating from one of the train's coaches, the train was immediately brought to a halt. The fire spread rapidly, completely affecting three coaches. SHO Ratan Lal of Sirhind GRP stated,

'As soon as smoke was observed, the train was stopped, and all passengers were safely evacuated. There were no casualties. The cause of the fire is being investigated.'

The Ministry of Railways also confirmed that there were no casualties and the fire was brought under control in a timely manner. Three coaches of train number 12204 Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express have been completely damaged.

Passenger Safety and Relief

During the fire, there was considerable panic and commotion among passengers, but due to the promptness of railway and security personnel, all passengers were safely evacuated in time. Officials stated that the safety of passengers on board the train was a priority, and no serious injuries or accidents occurred. The Ministry of Railways and Railway Police implemented emergency measures to ensure passenger safety. Local authorities inspected all coaches of the train and accommodated passengers in safe locations.
