Selected stocks are expected to remain in focus in the equity market today amid quarterly results, fundraising decisions, stake transactions, and corporate updates.
Quarterly Results
Several large-cap and mid-cap companies are scheduled to announce their December quarter (Q3) financial results today. These include ICICI Lombard General Insurance, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Tata Elxsi, 5paisa Capital, Just Dial, Bank of Maharashtra, Navkar Corporation, Oriental Hotels, Sigma Solve, and Tokyo Plast International.
NLC India Corporate Actions
Shares of NLC India are expected to be in focus after the company’s board granted in-principle approval to list its subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL). The proposed listing may involve the sale of up to 25 percent equity through one or more public offerings.
The board also declared an interim dividend of ₹3.60 per share for FY26. The record date for the dividend has been fixed as January 16.
In addition, NLC India approved an investment of up to ₹66.60 crore in NIRL to fund green energy projects. The investment will be made in phases based on requirements.
Shanti Educational Initiatives Stake Purchase
Shares of Shanti Educational Initiatives may see activity after Mauritius-based investment firm Multitude Growth Funds acquired 10.58 lakh shares in the company. The transaction was executed at a price of ₹170 per share, with a total deal value of approximately ₹18 crore.
Following the transaction, Multitude Growth Funds’ shareholding in the company increased to 0.65 percent.
Apollo Techno Industries Transaction
Everest Corporation acquired 2.73 lakh shares of Apollo Techno Industries, representing around 1.99 percent of the company’s total equity. The transaction was carried out at a price of ₹132.6 per share, with a total value of approximately ₹3.6 crore.
Tata Trusts Developments
Market participants are tracking developments related to Tata Trusts ahead of a board meeting scheduled for January 17, where the appointment of Neville Tata as a trustee of Sir Ratan Tata Trust may be considered. He was earlier appointed as a trustee of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust in November 2025.
Neville Tata currently leads the supermarket business, Star Bazaar, of Trent. Tata Trusts hold approximately 66 percent stake in Tata Sons.
Paytm Shareholding Changes
Institutional participation in One 97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, increased during the December quarter. Foreign Portfolio Investors’ holding rose to 25.33 percent in Q3 from 23.01 percent in Q2.
Following the sale of around 2 percent stake through a block deal by Elevation Capital, foreign direct investment holding declined to 25.18 percent. On the domestic side, purchases by insurance companies increased Domestic Institutional Investors’ holding to 20.32 percent.
Biocon Qualified Institutional Placement
Biocon shares are in focus following an update on its proposed Qualified Institutional Placement. The company’s board fixed a floor price of ₹387.74 per share for raising up to ₹4,500 crore through the QIP.
The company stated that a discount of up to 5 percent may be offered on the floor price. Biocon shares closed at ₹372.05 on the BSE on Monday. The final issue price will be determined in consultation with the book running lead managers.
Vodafone Idea Brokerage Assessment
A brokerage report by Motilal Oswal stated that Vodafone Idea may receive relief of over ₹54,000 crore on its adjusted gross revenue dues. According to the revised calculation, the relief could be around 62 percent on a net present value basis.
