RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has made several fresh allegations about his separation from his former wife Aishwarya Rai, claiming that she objected to his religious practices and prevented him from performing puja. He also alleged that she had assaulted his mother, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi.
Tejashwi described Aishwarya as a “product” of a major college, referring to her education and background. He alleged that the two had substantial differences in their views and lifestyles, including disagreements over religious activities and his practice of performing puja.
Tejashwi said he is religiously inclined and regularly performs puja. According to his allegation, Aishwarya objected to his religious practices, which he described as one of the sources of tension in their marriage. These allegations have not been independently verified, and Aishwarya Rai’s response is not available in the statement.
Tejashwi also alleged that Aishwarya had assaulted his mother, Rabri Devi. The allegation has likewise not been independently verified and is being presented as Tejashwi’s claim.
Tejashwi and Aishwarya were married in 2018. Reports of differences between the couple emerged shortly after their marriage, following which the dispute became public and the two began living separately. Tejashwi later initiated legal proceedings for divorce.
Their relationship also attracted considerable attention in Bihar’s political circles. Aishwarya Rai comes from a senior political family in Bihar. Her father, Chandrika Prasad Rai, has served as a minister in the Bihar government, and the family has had political influence. Tejashwi is the elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi.
The political and social connections between the two families kept the dispute in the public spotlight after the marriage. Following the public disclosure of their personal dispute, allegations and claims were made by both sides.
In his latest statement, Tejashwi linked his differences with Aishwarya not only to their marital relationship but also to his religious beliefs and family relationships. He said the couple could not establish compatibility over his lifestyle and religious beliefs.
Tejashwi has publicly appeared on several occasions in programmes associated with Lord Shiva and other religious sites, and religious faith has been part of his public life. He referred to this aspect while discussing his marital dispute.
The allegations made by one party in a marital dispute cannot by themselves be treated as established facts. Statements from Aishwarya Rai, court records and other documents would be relevant to determining the status of the allegations. The current claims made by Tejashwi also require independent verification.
The allegation concerning Rabri Devi is also serious. The specific incident and circumstances to which Tejashwi referred would have to be established through available records and other relevant information. If any complaint or legal action was previously filed in connection with the allegation, the related documents would help establish the facts.
The relationship between Tejashwi and Aishwarya has remained a subject of legal and political discussion since their marriage. Reports of efforts at the family level to resolve their differences also emerged after their relationship deteriorated, but the two eventually separated.
The political standing of both families contributed to the public attention surrounding the dispute. Tejashwi has been active in Bihar politics, while Aishwarya also belongs to a political family. Their personal dispute therefore became a matter of public discussion.
Tejashwi’s latest statement has again brought the earlier dispute into public focus. He has cited differences over religious beliefs, family relationships, personal lifestyle, and Aishwarya’s education and background while presenting his account of the separation.
The claims remain allegations by Tejashwi. They should not be treated as equivalent to a final court finding or the conclusion of an investigation. Official documents, court records and statements from all sides would be relevant to establishing the circumstances surrounding the marriage, separation and related legal disputes.
