Bihar's political landscape is heating up once again. With the 2025 Assembly elections looming, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his government. Yadav declared the BJP-JD(U) alliance a complete failure.
Bihar Politics: During a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) rally for the OBC cell in Patna, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav launched a b attack on the state government. He alleged that unemployment and migration are steadily increasing in Bihar, and that atrocities against people from Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs) are rampant. Yadav claimed that the administration is using its power to implicate EBCs in false cases and send them to jail.
He accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of being under the BJP's control, citing the Chief Minister's repeated need to justify his actions at public gatherings. Yadav also targeted the JD(U), stating that the party is now operating at the behest of a select few who are strengthening the BJP's political position.
Tejashwi Yadav directly stated that Bihar's administration is now being run not by the Chief Minister, but by retired officials. He asserted that Nitish Kumar is exhausted and that his political control has fallen into the BJP's hands.
BJP-JD(U) Alliance Targeted: Nitish "Hijacked"
Yadav alleged that Nitish Kumar is no longer capable of making independent decisions. He stated that the Chief Minister constantly needs to justify his actions and whereabouts at every public appearance, indicating complete influence by the BJP. Yadav also claimed that the JD(U) is now controlled by a select group of leaders who are covertly bolstering the BJP's political agenda. He questioned whether the JD(U) remains committed to its ideology or has succumbed to the lure of power.
Neglect of Extremely Backward Classes Highlighted
In his speech, Tejashwi Yadav raised serious questions about the continuous neglect of the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs). He stated that in Bihar, the EBC community has become nothing more than a vote bank, never given a decisive role by the government. He highlighted the fact that no EBC leader has ever been given a significant ministerial portfolio.
Yadav also questioned the government about the number of District Magistrates (DMs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) appointed from the EBC community, demanding the release of these figures.
Caste Census and Reservation Emphasis
Tejashwi Yadav hailed the central government's announcement of a caste census as a victory for the RJD. He attributed it to the vision of Lalu Prasad Yadav and the ideology of Karpoori Thakur, stating that the central government yielded to their demands. He clarified that the RJD will now fight to increase reservation quotas based on the caste census data. Yadav emphasized the need for seat reservations in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for OBCs and EBCs, similar to those provided for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
