The incident occurred in the Kharegaon area of Kalwa (West), where the Parsik Cafe was suddenly engulfed in flames. Upon receiving the fire report, the fire department and the Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell immediately sprung into action and initiated rescue operations. During the operation, 35 residents of the building were safely evacuated. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the accident.
Time and Location of the Fire
According to officials, the fire was reported at 4:58 AM on Thursday morning. The cafe, located in the Chandrabhaga Park complex, spans approximately 1,000 square feet and is situated on the ground floor. People resided on the upper floors of the building, and most residents were asleep at the time of the incident. This caused chaos throughout the complex immediately after the fire broke out.
Relief and Rescue Operations
Yasin Tadvi, the head of the Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell, stated that the rescue team immediately took action and safely evacuated all residents of Chandrabhaga Park B Wing. The fire department team evacuated the entire complex for safety reasons and prevented the fire from spreading. By 6:25 AM, the firefighters had completely extinguished the fire.
Heavy Damage to the Cafe
According to the fire department, the fire damaged all the essential items kept inside the cafe, including tables, chairs, refrigerators, cabinets, and the entire kitchen setup. The fire has left the cafe completely non-operational. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
Investigation into the Cause of the Fire is Underway
Officials have stated that an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary suspicions suggest that the incident may have been caused by a short circuit or a malfunction of an electrical appliance. However, the exact cause will be revealed only after the investigation is complete.
Reactions of Local Residents
Some local residents present at the time of the incident reported that people woke up upon seeing sudden smoke and immediately started evacuating the building. They praised the quick action of the rescue team and said that the situation could have been serious if help had not arrived on time.
